Gen Con 2023: Evil Genius Games Hosts “The Dark Gathering” – A Multi-Table RPG Event with the “Highlander Cinematic Adventure”

The Dark Gathering

Evil Genius Games pushed the boundaries of immersive modern role-playing experiences by hosting a multi-table RPG event, centered around their popular Highlander Cinematic Adventure – a pivotal piece of the Everyday Heroes System.

Answering an irresistible call, 60 enthusiastic players were drawn to Chicago, enticed by the tantalizing mystery: Is this the true Gathering of Immortals or a sinister ritual culminating in a climactic battle? As the story unfolded, participants grappled with the pivotal question, “Can you be the ONE to survive and claim the Prize?” By the end of the gripping event, only one Immortal remained, proudly wielding a coveted replica sword from Highlander as their prize. This honor went to Tommy Gatton. Evil Genius also gave a replica sword to one of our outstanding Game Masters, JoshTanski.

This exclusive Highlander adventure was meticulously written by the talented Michael Bramnik and underwent rigorous development at the hands of experts Sigfried Trent and Ivis Flanagan. The event’s rapid sell-out stands as a testament to the dedication and excitement of the Evil Genius gaming community and the growing popularity of the Everyday Heroes system.

Evil Genius Games Announces The Launch of their Evil Genius Organized-Play (E.G.O.) Program

The EGO Program

Evil Genius Games has announced the forthcoming launch of the Evil Genius Organized-Play (E.G.O.) Program. Slated for a January 2024 debut, E.G.O. is a global free-to-play roleplaying initiative that invites players worldwide to shape the narrative of Everyday Heroes and future settings through their distinct characters.

The program is designed to engage players of all levels, from newcomers to seasoned veterans, Game Masters, and even retailers. The program promises an immersive platform that includes monthly adventure releases, comprehensive tracking of character milestones and in-game achievements, along with exclusive rewards.

Starting in January of 2024, you can take in a quick 1–2 hour short-form game, or have your character take part in a longer 3–4 hour adventure, all as part of a “living campaign” where YOUR decisions will influence the future of the game world that everyone shares!

As part of the E.G.O. experience, players can connect with a global community through local, online, and convention gatherings. Evil Genius Games encourages all interested parties to visit their community page for more information. Attendees of future gaming conventions can also look forward to exciting E.G.O meetups and activities.

Simultaneously, Evil Genius Games will release Weapons Locker. This unique project delves into the intricate differences between over a thousand weapons, from primitive weapons to those used in WWI and WWII, all the way up to contemporary and near-future weapons and their use. By discussing the context around the existence of different weapons, we give players information they can use to bring focus and add depth to their heroes through weapons modification and ammunition choice.

The E.G.O. Program Manager is Michael Bramnik. Michael is a geologist, gamer, and geek who has been running tabletop roleplaying games for others since he was 13 years old. In addition to being an avid music lover, he is a trained historian and science educator who has also worked for the U.S. Department of Defense.Michael’s writing credits include Highlander Special Multi-Table event – “The Dark Gathering” (adventure designer), Kong: Skull Island Cinematic Adventure – “Sliver of the Skull” (adventure designer), Kong: Skull Island Adventure Path – “Isle of the Damned” (producer & co-author), Total Recall Cinematic Adventure – “The Enemy is Us” (adventure designer), as well as several titles for Paizo and Renegade Games. Evil Genius Games Announces Three Highly Anticipated Releases in 2024

The Military Handbook,  Weapons Locker, and The Garage

Evil Genius Games has announced the upcoming release of three remarkable projects, The Military Handbook,  Weapons Locker, and The Garage set for launch in 2024.

The Military Handbook is a gritty, realistic military game designed by a team of military veterans and active-duty service members. Focusing on the detailed facets of military duty, both in the garrison and the field, the team aims to create a game that genuinely tests its heroes. The book will cover some of the world’s top Tier 1 special operations units. It will also add new rules around wound locations, fatigue, morale, battlefield hygiene, trauma & PTSD, and how to run games with heroes of mixed levels to represent different levels of combat experience.

Heroes need to get from place to place, and The Garage (The Garage is a placeholder title for the book) will help with that. This book will provide transportation options from horses to spacecraft. Additionally, we will introduce new chase challenges, and expanded rules for sites from safe houses to workshops. We plan to release it in November 2024.

The driving force behind these exciting projects is Rich Redman, a military veteran and renowned figure in the gaming industry. Rich was one of the original creators of d20 Modern, the inspiration behind Everyday Heroes. Known for his eccentricity, Redman reportedly spearheads operations from a secluded mountain fortress in Tibet, an idiosyncratic detail that only adds to his distinct persona.

  • As part of the ‘open playtest’ model, the Starfinder team will be keeping players updated and involved with “Field Tests” — the first of which released today alongside the announcement at starfinderplaytest.como   Content for this first Field Test includes the Soldier Class (Levels 1-5), new equipment, and new creatures (the Computer Glitch Gremlin and Laser Wolf).

The Starfinder Playtest Rulebook will be available in summer 2024 as a softcover rulebook. As Starfinder Second Edition will be using the Pathfinder Second Edition ruleset, base system rules will not be a part of the playtest. Rather, the playtest will focus on the core elements of gameplay, including new classes, a scaling equipment system, new skills, and more.
