After being one of the favorites in the board game industry for six years, a highly engaging digital version of this classic board game is being released by Simple Magic, a fresh new games studio based in Tallinn, Estonia, together with the game’s publisher Brain Games.
IceCool is a family board game with a unique theme – penguins running through the school and trying to get some fish. It stands out with two major innovations: flicking techniques and a box-in-a-box setup. The game was launched six years ago and has received more than 20 prestigious international awards, including Kinderspiel des Jahres award as the Best Children’s Game of the Year 2017.
Simple Magic captured the most important game functions of IceCool as close to the original as possible while automating some more mundane tasks, thus making the online version fast- paced, very competitive, and just incredibly fun. The game gives you the option to play with random players around the world, or set up your own games with only selected friends – a nice way to continue the fun from the table-top experience from your last togetherness.
Roblox is a multi-platform vastly popular games engine, with about 50 million daily players around the world. 67% of Roblox users are under the age of 16, making the online version of IceCool a perfect example of how to introduce a fun board game to new players, while also giving the enthusiasts of the board game a chance to reconnect over their favorite board from anywhere in the world.

Stoneblade Entertainment has announced they’re working on a digital version of their popular hybrid deck game SolForge Fusion.
When they first launched Kickstarter for SolForge Fusion, people asked for a digital client for our physical game. Stoneblade, not wanting to ahead of themselves, wanted to see what the reaction to their game was.
Well, due to the support of the gaming community, SolForge is a success and a digital version is coming!
The developers will be led by the new CTO, Magic Hall-of-Famer, Alan Comer. When it comes to TCGs, Alan is an expert; his previous work includes Magic the Gathering Online, Pokémon, Duelmasters, Hex, and Artifact.
SolForge Fusion Digital is designed to work hand-in-hand with the physical version of the game. Any physical deck you own will be uploadable to the digital version at no additional cost. It’s the start of a new era for Blood Bowl 3! For the first time, this new adaptation, which introduces the latest rules and features from the legendary board game, gives Blood Bowl players a season update, a format that encourages competition. There will also be new content in the form of a battle pass, called the Blood Pass, as explained in a video by Gautier Brésard and Clément Nicolin, the Blood Bowl 3Project Manager and Product Manager respectively.
After several years of development and numerous Beta phases used to integrate community feedback, the release of Blood Bowl 3 is the next step for a game structured to last. In addition to optimizing the gameplay and the global quality, Cyanide Studio will regularly integrate new content and features.
The initial launch version of Blood Bowl 3 will include 12 factions, which is 4 more than featured in Blood Bowl 2. Every 3 months, a new season will begin, with each season adding a new faction and a new Blood Pass. The Blood Pass has 50 tiers that players achieve over the course of the season’s matches. On successfully reaching certain tiers, players receive free rewards that they can use to customize their teams, including new accessories, balls, and dice. The top tier in the Blood Pass unlocks that season’s new faction.
There will also be a paid version of the Blood Pass. If players buy it, they can immediately play as the new faction and will unlock a reward at each of the 50 tiers completed.
More than any other Blood Bowl game before, Blood Bowl 3 focuses heavily on customization options and competition. While the Blood Pass lets players obtain certain items, the same items can also be obtained as in-game rewards or be purchased in the online store using Warpstone, the game’s virtual currency. Whether unlocked for free or purchased from the store, the items are purely cosmetic.
As far as competition is concerned, each player will be given a ranking when playing in competitive mode. In ranked matches, players go up against other players of the same level, progressively being challenged by coaches with more experience. The tournaments and league system are sure to be crowd-pleasers.
The Blood Bowl 3 Blood Pass is a new way to enjoy all the different content that Cyanide will be providing after the game is released. This content, plus launch versions that are cheaper than previous incarnations, regular season updates, means Blood Bowl 3 has everything it needs to appeal to both long-term fans and players of tactical games who are looking to give fantasy football a try.
