Four Humours Launches on Kickstarter on November 10

Four Humours

Four Humours: A new game from the creators of Planet Unknown and Swordcrafters, is launching on Kickstarter on November 10th, 2020 from Adam’s Apple Games.

Adam’s Apple Games is back on Kickstarter seeking funding for a game that brings out your true personality. Four Humours is a competitive strategic deduction game for 2-6 players that plays in 40-60 minutes. You play as a medieval pharmacist medicating citizens in the kingdom to influence their temperament and claim your medical fame. The historical medical theory of the Four Humours is gamified into “secret worker placement” and “prisoners dilemma” mechanisms to delight gamers of all personalities from euro cube pushers to social deduction fanatics.

Each game, players take turns influencing one citizen choosing between one of their two temperaments and place a potion face-down in secrecy. At the end of each round, all potions are revealed and location winners are moved onto the Kingdom map.

Four objectives are set in place at the beginning of the game, and the player that completes the most objectives by the end of the game wins. Winning influence at a single location will take tactics and cunning while completing objectives will take perseverance and strategy.

Each turn is simple and quick since you’re simply placing one of your potions.  Each round contains tension because you don’t know when it will end.  The end of the game amplifies the tension using two timed end game triggers to allow potential game swings until the very last moment.  The unique “secret worker placement” mechanism enables players to bluff and persuade their opponents.  Player interaction comes from bluffing, blocking, and your clever social cunning to get ahead.

Each location is fully illustrated and represents a unique prisoner’s dilemma for each player to manipulate.  The game has plenty of replay value due to its random objectives at the start of the game, multiple game modes, and modularized map system.  The “Kingdom” game mode maximizes strategy and interaction while the “Fiefdom” game turns the shared map into a personal player board and requires you to focus even more on the artwork of the characters.

Four Humours, designed by Charlie McCarron, has been in development for 2 years and will be Charlie’s first published game. The game has been playtested at Prototspiel Minnesota, Gen Con, BGG CONline, and many more.  The game was a 3rd place winner in the 2019 Cardboard Edison Game Design contest against more than 120 other contest entrants.  The Kickstarter campaign will feature a limited deluxe version of the game with several upgrades planned throughout the campaign. A full, scripted module has been released on Tabletop Simulator for anyone to play the game immediately from day one.

The game is for 2 to 6 players ages 10+ with games lasting 40 to 60 minutes. The Kickstarter will run until December 4.

Adam’s Apple Games’ Swordcrafters Has You Build a Sword in 3D

Swordcrafters is a new game from the creators of Brewin’ USA and Truck Off: The Food Truck Frenzy currently live on Kickstarter with the campaign ending March 20.

Adam’s Apple Games is back on Kickstarter seeking funding for his new game Swordcrafters where you build a 3D sword while you play that you hold in your hand. You can learn to play in minutes but the strategic and spatial configuration of the sword crafting will keep you on the edge of your seat. Swordcrafters starts with 2D components and delivers an imaginative 3D experience that will bring you back to your nostalgic childhood of holding a cardboard sword.

Each round starts with a grid of sword tiles, each showing a different colored gem.  The sword tiles are the 2D pieces that you will craft into your 3D sword.  The gems are relevant to determining your sword’s quality and magic.  On your turn, you get to create a slice in the grid of sword tiles and later get to choose one of the groupings created by the slices.  You will be competing with your opponents to snatch up the sword tiles to craft a game winning blade.

When you’re finished with the game, you’re holding approximately a 1.5-2 foot cardboard sword… and you feel awesome no matter what your score is.

Swordcrafters has been playtested rigorously through Protospiel Minnesota and Madison as well as blind playtested locally. The Kickstarter campaign features the base game at $29 US with free shipping domestically and customs friendly shipping internationally. The game comes with a money back guarantee.

Also available is a day one game expansion that is early exclusive to Kickstarter. Swordcrafters: Relic incorporates ancient heirloom blades that have earned their fame in battle into the game. This expansion is intended to add incremental depth to the gameplay as you now need to balance crafting your sword with collecting ancient relics and completing their requirements.

The game is for 2-5 players ages 8+ and about 30 minutes to play.
