IDW Games Launches Batman: The Animated Series Adventures – Shadow of the Bat on Kickstarter

IDW GamesWarner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, announced that Batman: The Animated Series Adventures – Shadow of the Bat will launch on Kickstarter on February 18, 2020. A miniatures-driven board game, Shadow of the Bat is part of the Adventures Universal Game System (AUGS), and is compatible with all other AUGS products. Arkham Asylum, a full-sized expansion, will also launch on Kickstarter alongside Shadow of the Bat. Both Shadow of the Bat and Arkham Asylum are expected to arrive to backers and in stores in Fall 2020.

Running off the AUGS engine, Shadow of the Bat offers unrivaled flexibility and player choice. Players can take the role of any hero in their roster in the game’s 24 unique missions, all inspired by fan-favorite episodes. Likewise, even villains can be swapped out in every mission to change up the threats that players will face. In Shadow of the Bat, 1-4 players will take to the streets as Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Commissioner Gordon, and Catwoman, each with their own unique character abilities, skills, and custom dice. And they’ll have to work together in order to take down the likes of Two-Face, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, The Joker, and Harley Quinn. As with other AUGS games, villains can be controlled by the game itself for full co-op play, or by a 5th player. AUGS’ modularity means that players can even create their own dream scenarios and teams, including bringing in elements from other AUGS products.

Launching alongside Shadow of the Bat is the Arkham Asylum expansion, which will add 13 more missions to play through, and an all-new game mode: Clayface mode. In Arkham Asylum players will explore the halls of the infamous psychiatric hospital as they tangle with Clayface, Poison Ivy, Jervis Tetch, The Ventriloquist, Killer Croc, Maxie Zeus, Lock-Up, Clock King, Baby Doll, and Hugo Strange. In Clayface mode, each hero will be given a card that will indicate if they are who they appear to be, or if they’re actually Clayface in hiding. At any time, the Clayface player can reveal their true identity, transforming into the massive Clayface, and turn on their former friends!

Players will also have the option to expand their roster of heroes and villains with The New Batman Adventures character pack, containing Nightwing, Tim Drake as Robin, Calendar Girl, and Firefly. Story Packs for Mask of the Phantasm and Mystery of the Batwoman will also be available, adding new missions and characters–The Phantasm and Bruce Wayne in plain clothes, and Batwoman and Bane, respectively–that follow the films’ stories.

Anyone looking to try before they buy will be able to play a digital demo of Batman: The Animated Series Adventures – Shadow of the Bat through either Tabletopia or Tabletop Simulator. This demo contains 3 missions that follow The Joker-centric episode Joker’s Favor.

Unboxing: Batman The Animated Series: Almost Got Im Card Game

The villains of Gotham city have gathered for a poker night and to share stories about the time they nearly dispensed with that troublesome Caped Crusader, Batman. Little do they know that the dark Knight is in their midst, disguised as one of their own. Will the rogues be able to suss out the bat in their Belfry before he clandestinely subdues them? this variant on the popular werewolf-style deduction game, inspired by the memorable Batman: The Animated Series episode “Almost Got I’m”, adds a poker element to the proceedings, requiring participants to craft poker hands to activate their special abilities when the lights go out. Take on the personas of classic Batman baddies in a game where everyone has something to hide and no one is safe. With poker hands guiding the action, players have something to talk about. Everyone has an important role. No bystanders in this game! too often, social deduction games begin with random accusations just to get the ball rolling. No so here. Players can request poker cards from other players, and often see what cards other players are taking. Enemies are made when someone takes the card you wanted. Now you have a reason to be suspicious of another player!

Based on the classic Batman: The Animated Series episode this card/social game from Crytpozoic Entertainment is for 5 to 8 players.

Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game steps out of the shadows . . . and onto shelves

batman-the-animated-series-dice-gameAlarm bells sound, but you don’t care: You keep piling wads of cash from the bank vault into your moneybag. Just a little more . . . The World’s Greatest Detective surely won’t arrive any time soon.

In Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game, players attempt massive bank heists as classic Batman Super-Villains like The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. How much loot can you grab before the alarm bells summon the Caped Crusader?

You can find it at your nearest local game store or select Hot Topic locations now!

This release comes from SJ Games and Cryptozoic Entertainment, in partnership with DC Comics, and it’s based on Batman: The Animated Series.

Roll and then re-roll the dice in this push-your-luck game – you want to roll moneybags, but you don’t want to roll Batman symbols. You are a criminal, after all! The evildoer with the most loot gets away; the Bat gets to the rest of ’em.

Each villain has a unique and diabolical ability. Customize your first roll as The Riddler, gain extra points as The Joker, grab more loot as Catwoman, or cleverly dodge Batman as Poison Ivy.

So if you plan to pick up this game, rest assured: Your evil plan is foolproof.

Knight Models adds Animated Batman, Catwoman and more to Batman the Miniature Game

Knight Models continues to crank out some impressive figure for their Batman the Miniature Game. They recently announced an expansion of their game line based on Batman the Animated Series, and the first two figures have been released.

New to the game are a Batman and Catwoman based on Batman the Animated Series. Also released for the game is Katana, Black Manta, a Militia Gattling Brute (for the Scarecrow’s gang), and The Riddler’s Mech (yes a bit odd unless someone can point me where this happened).
