Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Astra Militarum gets reinforcements and Black Library Celebration

The Astra Militarum is front and center in next week’s Games Workshop pre-orders. After an initial release, there’s more coming to fill out the ranks!

The Combat Patrol: Astra Militarum is a solid start to a force or a great way to expand one. It features a five-man Cadian Command squad, 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a Sentinel, and two Field Ordnance Battery pieces.

The Cadian Castellan direct the flow of battle and features multiple options for arms, weapons, and heads.

The Commissar maintains morale and discipline and helps troops pass their Combat Attrition tests.

Attilan Rough Riders provide speed with their explosive cavalry charges that help hit armor with their melta tips or shred infantry with their frag tips.

The Cadian Upgrades features 87 components including extra heads, arms, and accessories, and helps create medics, map readers, and more.

You can prepare for the attack with the Aegis Defence Line. Help build up your battlefield with this platform and barricade pieces.

The Black Library Celebration 2023 is here!

This year’s figure is Captain Messinius from the Dawn of Fire series. He’s armed with a plasma pistol and an ornate power fist.

Dawn of Fire: The Iron Kingdom is the fifth installment in the Dawn of Fire series and written by Nick Kyme. The special edition is limited to 2,000 numbers copies signed by the author. They contain full-color interior art, a map, the short story Kin, a leather effect cover, and a gold ribbon bookmark. It’ll also be available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook.

The End and the Death Volume I by Dan Abnett is the culmination of the Siege of Terra. Terra’s final days are at hand. Limited to 2,500 copies, the book features internal illustrations, a foldout map depicting the ruined Imperial Palace, faux leather cover, gold page edges, a red ribbon bookmark, and signed by Abnett. It’ll also be available as a hardback, eBook, and audiobook.

Every order on the Games Workshop webstore from February 18th will receive the Black Library Celebration 2023, a compilation of Black Library stories. The English version contains short stories by Justin D Hill, Noah Van Nguyen, Michael F Haspil, David Annandale, and Jude Reid, while the French and German versions contain a different set of stories by David Annandale, William King, Dan Abnett, Guy Haley, and Graham McNeill.

In Bad Loon Rising by Andy Clark, Zograt and Skrog find out their ambitions are destined for legend. Available in hardback, eBook, and audiobook.

Angels of Darkness by Gav Thorpe returns with a 20th-anniversary re-release.

This year’s “Readers’ Choice Winners” are Guy Haley’s Skarsnik and William King’s The Macharian Crusade: Angel of Fire.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Beasts of Chaos, Gloomspite Gitz, and Necromunda, oh my!

Next week’s Games Workshop pre-orders head back to Age of Sigmar with two army releases for the games. Beasts of Chaos and Gloomspite Gitz get some updates and new Battletomes for you to field your armies.

The Battletome: Beasts of Chaos helps deliver anarchy to the battlefield with updated warscrolls, pitched battle profiles, and new Path to Glory rules. You can get a regular edition or a special Limite EDition which features gilt page edges, gold foil blocking, red ribbon page marker, and soft-touch covers. It’s limited to 250 numbered copies, so you’ll need to be quick to get it!

The Beastlord is a new miniature to lead your force. A close combat machine, they have a special hatred of enemy heroes that helps allies whenever going against a rival champion.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Astra Militarum invade! Plus Necromunda and new Black Library!

After a limited boxed set released late last year, the updated Astra Militarum is finally arriving for Warhammer 40K with a proper release. Games Workshop has revealed next week’s preview and the battlefield will soon be flooded with brand-new Imperial Guard units!

The Codex: Astra Militarum gets the usual two releases with a regular and limited edition. It has everything you need to field your force.

Lord Solar Leontus is here to lead your forces. He’s a brilliant strategist, the supreme commander of the Astra Militarum on Segmentum Solar.

Lord Castellan Ursula Creed is her father’s daughter. She holds the soldiers of Cadia together issuing multiple orders every turn.

Cadian Shock Troops are dependable soldiers and the kit is packed with special weapons and lasguns to help you hold the line.

The Cadian Command Squad direct the efforts with a Platoon Commander, medic, standard bearer, and vox-caster.

The Heavy Weapons Squad packs a punch allowing you to field mortars, missile launchers, heavy bolters, autocannons, and lascannons.

The Rogal Dorn Battle Tank is brand new to the force and packs firepower. There are many choices to make as to how you’re going to arm the tank.

Another new unit, Field Ordnance Battery help support the troops with three weapon options. You can choose the malleus rocket launcher, heavy lascannon, or bombast field gun.

The classic Sentinel gets an update with numerous weapon choices and you can make it an Armoured Sentinel or a Scout Sentinel.

The repackaged Baneblade delivers eight different super-heavy tanks. Pick your favorite from the Baneblade, Banehammer, Banesword, Doomhammer, Hellhammer, Shadowsword, Stormlord, or Stormsword.

The Leman Russ Battle Tank is also repackaged allowing turret options for the Leman Russ Battle Tank, Demolisher, Executioner, Vanquisher, Eradicator, Punisher, and Exterminator variants.

The Primaris Psyker wields the warp to defeat the enemy. This miniature used to only be available in Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress and will now be released on its own for the first time.

The Datacards: Astra Militarum allows you to keep track of Stratagems, psychic powers, and your expanded list of Regimental Orders – Commissars get their own now! 63 reference cards in total.

Show your support as you roll the dice with the Astra Militarum Dice Set. It features 15 dice with the winged skull of the Astra Militarum on the six face.

There’ll also be a bundle with all of these releases and you also get this print. The Astra Militarum Art Print Bundle special print is signed by artist Lewis Jones.

For Necromunda, the Mercator Pallidus Corpse Harvesting Party are representatives of the Mercator Pallidus, the Corpse Guild, and as hangers-on they’re entirely happy to join your gangs for a quick supply run. It features six resin miniatures that can ally with any faction with ties to the Corpse Guild. They can also strike out on their own to form an Outcasts Delegation Gang.

Rex Spires and Estus Jet are two Hired Funs that’ll lend their skills to any gang who can afford them. The pack contains two resin miniatures.

Ajex Gorgoth, Lord of the Fist can be hired by Goliath gangs bringing his massive strength to the gang.

From Black Library is the Armageddon (Special Edition). Aaron Dembski-Bowden‘s anthology collects the novels Helsreach and Blood and Fire with an introduction by the author. Limited to 2,500 copies, it’s bound in a black faux-level cover with gold foil details, a ribbon page marker, and gilt page edges.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden’s Cadian Blood gets a German edition while Nick Kyme‘s Volpone Glory gets a French edition.

Warhammer 40,000: Imperium Magazine is now coming to Japan featuring all the same gifts and guides as previous releases.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Arks of Omen begins with new 40K Battleforces

Games Workshop is kicking off 2023 with a bang! Warhammer 40,000 gets the spotlight with a lot of releases that might shake up the game in the new year.

Arks of Omen begins with its first volume “Abaddon“. The book will be available in standard and collectors’ editions and kicks off a new story. The Despoiler is teaming with the daemon Vashtorr the Arkifane for his latest scheme.

It introduces new rules and missions for Boarding Actions, a new way to play the game.

But, to play a game that’s supposed to take place on a spaceship, you’ll need a board to play on. The Boarding Actions Terrain Set allows you to do that quickly. It features two double-sided game boards and 68 pieces of modular terrain.

If larger games are your thing, Chapter Approved: Arks of Omen: Grand Tournament Mission Pack will be available. It’s the complete guide to matched play for the first half of 2023. It features revised tournament missions, new and updated secondary objectives for every faction, and a brand-new Detachment that gives even more flexibility when building armies.

What about a new army?

The Scions of Macragge Battleforce box features two heroes, Intercessors, Hellblasters, and Bladeguard Veterans.

The White Scars Battleforce, Storm of Chogoris, delivers fast attack action with a Primaris Chaplain on a Bike, two squads of Outriders, two Invader ATVs, and Kor’sarro Khan.

The March of Iron Strike Force features two Redemptor Dreadnoughts, 10 Intercessors, a Primaris Techmarine, and Iron Father Feirros.

The Salamanders Warforged Strike Force features 20 Intercessors, three Eradicators, three Aggressors, and Adrax Agatone.

New Space Marine Heroes is out and features six different Space Marines to collect in blind bags. It’s a random one you’ll get or buy a box and get all six with two extras! You can paint them as any Chapter and you have a choice of helmeted or bare head when you build them.

It’s not all Space Marines. Show your allegiance to the Black Legion with the Black Legion dice set.

When it comes to Warhammer: The Horus Heresy the Salamanders and Word Bearers get the spotlight. Each gets a Made to Order set with the Salamanders getting five torsos for Mark III armor. The Word Bearers set is designed for Mark IV armor. Both legions get should pads, Mark II and Mark IV for Salamanders and Mark II and Mark III for the Word Bearers.

Blood Bowl gets some releases with the return of two classic characters. Nobbla Blackwart and Scrappa Sorehead are back with two brand-new miniatures to unleash their mayhem on the field. They can play for Badlands Brawl and Underworlds Challenge teams.

Black Library kicks off the year with some releases.

Mortis, book five in the Siege of Terra series arrives. The book by John French sees Titans and their crews step to the forefront of the story.

Also out is a large-scale map reproduction of the one found in the book. Printed on cotton, it measures 596mm x 420mm. It’s secured with a leather cord and metal pendant featuring the sigil of the Titan Legions.

A new tale featuring the Flesh Tearers, Wrath of the Lost, also is being released. Written by Chris Forrester, a force returns to their home world of Cretacia to discover what has happened to their befallen brethren there. It’ll be available in hardback, eBook, and MP3 audiobook.

Robert Rath’s novel Assassinorum: Kingmaker will be released in paperback for the first time.

Astorath: Angel of Mercy by Guy Haley is getting a release in French and German in hardback and eBook.

Games Workshop is winding down the year with another rather light week of pre-orders and a limited item.

On the 7th of January, you’ll be able to get the Abhorrant Ghoul King with Crown of Delusion on Boxing Day. Come, dear squires – sit on the King’s knee and tell him what you want for Christmas. Necromunda gets a load of releases to help you dominate the Underhive and Ash Wastes.

Escher Cutters will have you speeding across the ash wastes in skimmers. The kit includes four machines that Leaders, Champions, and Prospects can ride. Options include heads, hair, and a choice of twin-linked heavy stubbers, grenade launchers, or plasma guns.

Go all in with Escher and also get Escher Tactics Cards and Ash Wastes Dice. There’s one for vehicles and another for battles in the underhive. Each contain 18 Escher specific cards and eight blank cards. The Tactics Cards contain new cards to use in the ash wastes, while the Escher Gang Tactics set is a reprint of a previous set, and the eight Escher-themed dice are coloured in stylish purple with luxurious golden ink. You get three regular D6s, three Necromunda injury dice, an ammo die, and a scatter die.

Forge World will release Athera, Blade of the Matriarch. Escher gangs can petition her for help with her master-crafted chainaxe. Athera is accompanied into battle by her grumpy Caryatid, Stix, who has the prescience to help them both avoid harm.

Warcry gets some big releases starting with Warcry: Sundered Fate. The Jade Obelisk or on a mission and the Hunters of Huanchi aren’t happy with the desecration. The boxed set features 23 miniatures, terrain, a gaming board, warband tome, fighter and ability cards, battleplan cards, and rules to play!

If you want some scenery, there’s also the Ravaged Lands: Gnarlwood Watchcamp. It collects a grisly glade of Ghurish terrain first released in Warcry: Heart of Ghur.

The Horns of Hashut are coming! The 10 miniatures, including Ruinators, Demolishers – one of whom is armed with the deadly Flamehurler – and Shatterers. They’re also usable in Slaves to Darkness armies for Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Maybe the Rotmire Creed are more your thing? This warband contains a Witherlord, a Bloated One, two Carrion Catchers, and six Mirefolk Outcasts. The Rotmire Creed can also serve as a sneaky vanguard unit for the Maggotkin of Nurgle in Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Warband Tome: Rot and Ruin is a 64-page book containing the background information for the Horns of Hashut and the Rotmire Creed. There are also quests for both warbands and two campaign arcs.

The original Warcry warbands are returning. You can pick up all of the original eight warbands from the eight Mortal Realms, plus the spidery Tarantulos Brood, the brutish Darkoath Savagers, and Khainite Shadowstalkers. These updated boxes don’t include fighter or ability cards, all those rules are free to download. And you can use them in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar!

There’s also returning Warcry Monsters! Use them in games of Warcry or as part of your Slaves to Darkness armies.

There’s also four dice packs coming. One for each of the Horns of Hashut, the Rotmire Creed, the Hunters of Huanchi, and the Jade Obelisk warbands.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Cadia Stands while Goffs Rock

With the teases increasing recently, it’s not surprising that Cadia and the Astra Militarum are the center of this coming week’s pre-orders from Games Workshop.

The Cadia Stands: Astra Militarum Army Set launches the update to the Astra Militarum. It features 28 new miniatures. That includes 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a five-man Cadian Command Squad, a Sentinel with Armoured and Sentinel configurations, and two Field Ordnance teams.

The box also features an exclusive copy of Codex: Astra Militarum and 63 datacards.

The box will have a 13-day pre-order window coming to shelves on Black Friday.

Are you ready to rock? Then the Ork Goff Rocker is for you. This year’s Christmas miniature is the Goff Rocker updating the classic trio of models. Of course, he’ll be getting some mini-games so you can bring him to the tabletop.

Coming from Forge World is the Doom Scythe Squadron. The Doom Scythe and Night Scythe kits are getting repacked into a single set that can make both of these deadly Necron flying machines. Rules for fielding Doom Scythes and Night Scythes can be found in the Aeronautica Imperialis Companion.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Slaves to Darkness and more arrive for Age of Sigmar plus Horus Heresy, Necromunda, and more!

It’s a pretty big pre-order week for Age of Sigmar and Horus Heresy next week as Games Workshop has revealed what’s coming.

The Slaves to Darkness Army Set is the big item delivering a new battletome and lots of new figures. It features 14 new miniatures including a Daemon Prince, 10 Chaos Chosen, and three Ogroid Theridons. It also includes a special edition of the Slaves to Darkness battletome featuring rules you need to field your army. There are also Warscroll Cards, 28 Enhancement Cards, and 34 tokens to keep track of special rules.

That’s not the only force to be reconned with. Battletome: Ogor Mawtribes will also be available to order. It features the rules you need to field this force and you can choose between the regular edition or the limited edition that’ll only have 500 copies worldwide.

The Vanguard: Ogor Mawtribes is an easy want to start or expand your force. It features a Tyrant, six Ogor Gluttons, two Mournfangs, four Leadbelchers, and an Ironblaster which can be built as a Gnoblar Scraplauncher.

The Bloodpelt Hunter hunts large creatures in the Mortal Realms. They sneak into position hunting with their skullshatter crossbow, impaling spear, or hacker-axe and meatblade.

Maneaters will actually eat anybody. The mercenaries can be added to Battle with the Ex-mercenary Command Trait.

Keep track of your rules with the Ogor Mawtribes Warscroll Cards that feature 28 cards and 34 tokens.

Ogor Mawtribes Dice features 20 six-sided dice themed around the army.

And if neither of those armies is your thing, Vanguard: Sylvaneth will help you grow your force. It includes a Branchwych, three deadly Kurnoth Hunters, and five Tree-Revenants that can be assembled as Spite-Revenants. Finally, there’s a Treelord that can be a Treelord Ancient or a Spirit of Durthu.

Finally, there’s the Sons of Behemat Warscroll Cards which contains 12 reference cards as well as tokens to help keep track of your game.

Warhammer: The Horus Heresy has a lot of releases as well.

Liber Imperium – Forces of the Emperor Army Book covers the Imperial army including Solar Auxilia, as well as the Sisters of Silence, Legio Custodes, and the seven deadly Clades of the Officio Assassinorum.

The Officio Assassinorum has three new agents for the battlefield. The Clade Venenum Assassin tailors its venom for maximum lethality. The Clade Vanus Infocyte Assassin misdirects enemies. Finally, the Clade Adamus Assassin updates the classic Assassin butchering opponents with its blades in combat.

The Solar Auxilia Tank Crew adds extra firepower and features two pintle-mounted multi-lasers and a pintle-mounted heavy flamer.

Solar Auxilia Surgeon-Primus Aevos Jovan and Medicae Orderlies bring their surgical skills to the battlefield. The set features Jovan, his staff of two medical orderlies, and an unfortunate wounded soldier strapped to an auto-gurney.

Solar Auxilia Rapier Batteries provide fire support to Solar Auxilia armies. Rapier Batteries can have gravis multi lasers or quad launchers. The kit features two crew.

Upgrade kits continue and now it’s Iron Hands Upgrades! Grab shoulder pads for your Mark II, Mark IV, and Cataphractii Terminators, and some Mark III torsos for your X Legion warriors.

There’s also the Night Lords Upgrades. Upgrade your Mark II and Mark III Space Marines with shoulder pads, and your Mark IV troops with torsos.

Necromunda gets some releases as well!

Goliath Vehicle Gang Tactics features 26 cards including 8 blank cards.

Add some scenery with the Promethium Tanks Refuelling Station. They’re solid objectives for the games and can be assembled in multiple ways. You can also use them to refuel your scare weapons in the game!

If you want yours portable, then get the Promethium Tanks on Cargo-8 Ridgehauler Trailer. It’s compatible with the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler and great for scenarios.

Goliath Ash Wastes Upgrades will help your gang survive the wasteland. It features alternate heads and optional equipment. The backpacks are designed to be used with the Goliath Gang kit.

Black Library has a few releases.

Shadowsun: The Patient Hunter is a new novel by Phil Kelly. When Death Guard attack the Starside Nexus, Shadowsun must find a way to defeat them. This limited edition hardback is limited to 2,000 copies.

Only War: Stories from the 41st Millennium features 24 short stories from 21 different authors.

Conquest Unbound: Stories from the Mortal Realms features 21 stories from 15 authors set in the world of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

Kragnos: Avatar of Destruction gets a paperback edition and pits the End of Empires against the forces of Order.

Inferno! Presents: The Emperor’s Finest features 12 short stories and is available in paperback and eBook.

The Curse of Khaine gets an audiobook version.

German editions of Dark Imperium: The Omnibus, Dark Imperium, and Dark Imperium: Plague War are being released.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Leagues of Votann fully arrive!

It’s been a bit since the army box was released but the Leagues of Votann players won’t have much longer to wait before they can really build out their force. Games Workshop has revealed next week’s pre-orders and the new army dominates.

First up is the Codex: Leagues of Votann. It features 104 pages of lore, rules, everything you need to build your army. You can get the regular or Collector’s Edition which features silver foil.

A quick way to build your force, you can get the Combat Patrol: Leagues of Votann. You get one Kâhl – buildable as special character Ûthar the Destined as well as 10 Hearthkyn Warriors, three Hernkyn Pioneers, and five Cthonian Beserks.

Ûthar the Destined is one of the named characters in the codex and you can get this miniature to lead your force or build a standard Kâhl.

Grimnyr are the psykers of the force.

Einhyr Champions are great if you want a bit more of a blunt hammer. The exo-armor delivers a boost to smash the enemies.

And if that’s your playstyle, get the Einhyr Hearthguard who are the League’s finest troops. Also featuring exo-armor they feature powerful weapons.

Brôkhyr Iron-masters tend Kinhost forges. They handle the repair and recovery efforts.

Brôkhyr Thunderkyn brings heavy firepower to the battlefield with their bolt cannons and graviton blast cannons as well as conversion beamers.

Hearthkyn Warriors are the rank and file warriors bringing bolt and ion weaponry to battle. They’re an essential part of battle in their groups of 20 warriors.

The Hernkyn Pioneers provide maneuverability delivering speed and the option for powerful weapons to deliver hit and run attacks.

Cthonian Beserks are close combat fighters who charge into combat with their mining tools turned weapons.

The Sagitaur helps transport warriors around. It’ll take two to carry a 10 man Hearthkyn squad to battle where they’re needed.

The Hekaton Land Fortress is a massive vehicle that delivers damage and soaks it up as well.

May your rolls be blessed with the Leagues of Votann Dice Set. You get 16 dice.

Keep track of your force and rules with the Datacards: Leagues of Votann. The 40 cards have Stratagem and psychic powers at your disposal.

Warhammer: The Horus Heresy gets new additions to its growing line.

The Deimos Pattern Predator Support Tank is a versatile vehicle and brings the plasma destroyer, magna-melta cannon, flamestorm cannon, heavy conversion beam cannon, and neutron blaster to the battlefield.
