Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Age of Sigmar, Horus Heresy, Middle-Earth, and more!

It’s a hodge podge upcoming pre-order week for Games Workshop with releases for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game, and Black Library. Check out everything you’ll be able to soon get.

The Flesh-eater Courts Army Set is the first place to get some of the new models coming for the Flesh-eater Court. It’s packed with what you need to muster a glittering new host of noble knights and redoubtable peasants.

The set contains 25 completely new plastic miniatures: one mighty Abhorrant Gorewarden as general, his trusty Varghulf Courtier, 3 lightning-fast Morbheg Knights, and 20 obdurate Cryptguard.

There’s also an exclusive launch edition of the new 88-page Battletome: Flesh-eater Courts, 27 warscroll cards, 30 tokens, and 33 enhancement cards, all of which are only available in this set (though the battletome will be released separately in a different format).

For those who want something more futuristic and with speed comes the MKVI Assault Squad for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. This is a box of 10 plastic Assault Marines for deployment in your Horus Heresy games. You get enough components to arm your squad with chainswords and either bolt pistols or combat shields, plus a range of accessories, and a Sergeant with extra weapons options and two heads. The kit is entirely compatible with all MKVI upgrade sets, including Legion-specific accessories.

Games Workshop is making it a bit easier to get the iconography right on your miniatures with the Legiones Astartes Transfer Sheet. It features general squad markings, honour signs, numerals and lettering suited for all 18 Legions. The Infantry sheet contains 1,280 decals in total, while the Vehicle sheet includes 510. Note that there’s no Legion-specific heraldry included on either set of transfers.

Head to Middle-earth and the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game with two releases.

King of the Dead and Heralds get a Clear Plastic version. It’s a translucent blue plastic featuring the King of the Dead and two Heralds brandishing Banners of the Dead. This is a recast of the current models, taking on a more ghostly form as they bring ruin to the forces of Mordor.

The king gets his army with the Warriors of the Dead also in Clear Plastic. This set contains 20 Warriors of the Dead cast in the same clear blue plastic. These are also existing miniatures which have been recast for a ghostly effect.

Both of these clear plastic kits will be available while stocks last.

White Dwarf 495 features information on all the new Tyranids and the Fourth Tyrannic War. You’ll also find new special mission rules for Boarding Actions in the current edition of Warhammer 40,000, Warcry rules for taking your Free City fighters on a Dawnbringer Crusade, Kill Team rules for jungle warfare – complete with jungle cards – and much, much more.

The surprise second holiday release is here with Da Grotmas Gitz. This model will be available for a strictly limited period in December, so snap yours up quick!

Spruce up your bases with Brimstein Firegrass, vermillion grass tufts, which are perfect for scorched battlefield. In all, you get 155 tufts in four different sizes.

Black Library has multiple releases to keep you entertained during the holiday season.

Vaults of Terra Collection gets a special edition. Chris Wraight’s thrilling trilogy about corruption at the very heart of Humanity’s home world is limited to just 1,500 copies signed by the author. All three volumes are collected in a fancy slipcase with leather-effect covers, ribbon bookmarks, and an extra short story in each.

Two more classic titles come to MP3 audiobook for the first time. In Steven B Fischer’s Witchbringer, former Cadian Captain Glavia Aerand’s newfound psychic talents press her into more hazardous service, while Commissar Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only are back in action in Blood Pact by Dan Abnett. Additionally, the Damocles collection of short stories has been re-recorded.

Black Library Advent eShorts 2023 return this December with one short story every two days in the run-up to Christmas. There are 12 stories in total, from luminaries such as Adrian Tchaikovsky, Nate Crowley, and Mike Brooks, telling tales from all the worlds of Warhammer. You can buy these eShorts separately, or purchase a subscription to get all 12 for the price of 10.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Space Marines invade

It’s a wave of Space Marines in next week’s pre-orders from Games Workshop. Not only is the new codex on the way, a load of new miniatures arrive on the field too.

Codex: Space Marines is here with the rules you need to field your force in 10th edition. Packed with datasheets, detachment rules, background lore, beautiful miniatures showcases, and Crusade content aplenty, the book comes in at 216-pages. You can choose from seven complete detachments with a wide variety of abilities and playstyles.

The codex is for any chapter, including Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Black Templars, and more!

If you really want to show off your loyalty, get the limited edition copy which features a unique cover, foil details, and gilt page edges. It’s limited to a “few thousand” copies.

Get into the battle quickly with the Captain with Jump Pack. The new kit gives you a lot of options with weapon and head choices.

Maybe a Chaplain in Terminator Armour is more your thing? Get this tank on the battlefield with its Terminator Armour or an optional relic shield. And, make yours more unique with a choice of crozius arcanum.

The Company Heroes helps bring some inspiration to the battlefield with a Chapter Master and more heroes. There’s an Ancient with banner to inspire, Company Champion to duel the enemy, and Veterans lay down the firepower. The Captain also features multiple options.

There’s a new Terminator Squad. This new multi-part kit features more options like a heavy flamer and cyclone missile launcher. There’s a wide range of heads and you can give chainfists to all you want.

If you want to get your Intercessors into battle quicker, look no further than the Jump Pack Intercessors. It’s chainsword death from above! The Sergeant features an optional hand flamer, plasma pistol, power sword, or power fist.

The Sternguard Veteran Squad is ready to lay down the fire. This new multi-part plastic kit features five Veterans with a choice of boltguns or combi-weapons including the new pyrecannon as a heavy weapon option.

How about a Lieutenant? Originally released in Strike Force Agastus, it gets a standalone release ready to grant Lethal Hits. It features a lot of choices like a power fist, plasma pistol, power swords, bolt rifles, or just a pointing finger.

Also getting a standalone release is the Brutalis Dreadnought from the same set. It’s built for close combat destruction.

The Desolation Squad finally gets a standalone release ready to rain down long-range fire support.

Also out, Combat Patrol: Space Marines features Space Marines from the Leviathan box set including Five Terminators, five Infernus Marines, a Terminator Captain, and a Terminator Librarian.

Datasheet Cards: Space Marines and Space Marines Dice Set is also coming out to help you keep track of your force and help bless your dice rolls.

Also coming is the Chapter Approved: Leviathan Mission Deck. It’s an essential companion for playing Matched Play games of Warhammer 40,000, first available in the Leviathan box set and now coming to shelves separately. You can quickly construct an exciting mission and execute Gambits to bring trailing players back into the game.

Warhammer: The Horus Heresy also gets some focus with the Space Wolves Legion Praetor. Praetors of the Space Wolves Legion are some of the brawniest fighters in the galaxy, and as befits their station they march to war in highly ornamented battle plate. This resin Praetor also mounts the pelt of a Fenrisian wolf – that he no doubt slew himself – on his shoulder, and carries a heavy Fenrisian axe whose AP2 strikes will have no trouble slicing through Terminator armour. He comes with two head options: helmet or glorious, flowing beard.

You can spruce up your force with the Space Wolves MkVI Heads. Warriors of the VI Legion engraved their helmets with ancient runes and icons from their native Fenris, even as the advanced MkVI Corvus-pattern armour was distributed towards the end of the Horus Heresy. The pack features 11 resin heads for MkVI Space Marines.

From Black Library is Genefather by Guy Haley. The finest minds in the Imperium have come together at the behest of Belisarius Cawl to unlock the secrets of the Necron pylon network and heal the great wound torn across the galaxy. This conclave of intellectuals is the greatest gathering of scientific genius in millennia, so naturally a visionary like Fabius Bile must also be in attendance – whether he’s been invited or not.

It’s coming out as a standard hardback, eBook, MP3, as well as a Special Edition numbered and signed by the author. This edition contains an additional short story, To Speak as One, and is bound in a soft-touch cover with alternate art, gilt page edges, and a black ribbon page marker.

Wrath of the Lost by Chris Forrester focuses on the Flesh Tearers. Their home planet of Cretacia has fallen eerily quiet, and there’s precious little time to investigate. A Chaplain and an Apothecary – neither of whom have ever set foot on their homeworld – must retrace the journey of their founder. It’s getting a new paperback edition.

Only in Death by Dan Abnett is getting an MP3 release. Commanded to hold a critical pass, the Tanith First and Only will need to watch for enemies without and ghosts within to survive their stay at the Hinzerhaus – and conquering their fears is only the start.

Eisenhorn: The Omnibus by Dan Abnett gets a German Edition. Follow the complete saga of Black Library’s most famous Inquisitor. This massive tome collects his four main adventures – Xenos, Malleus, Hereticus, and The Magos – alongside four short stories – Regia Occulta, Missing in Action, Backcloth for a Crown Additional, and The Keeler Image – across nearly 1,000 pages of classic Warhammer 40,000 fiction.

Pilgrims of Fire by Justin D. Hill also gets a German Edition. A mission from the Adepta Sororitas joins the ‘cursed’ Indomitus Fleet Quintus in Pilgrims of Fire by Justin D Hill, author of the Cadian Honour series. Sister Helewise may be a Battle Sister, but she’s not inclined to rush right into martyrdom – not until she’s found a higher purpose that her death may serve, anyway. This epic tale is soon to be available in a new German paperback format.

Warboss by Mike Brooks gets a French Edition. A Warboss tells the tale of six bosses rushing forward to fill the power vacuum left by the now ‘proper dead’ Gazrot Goresnappa. We all know the biggest and greenest of them all will win, but who exactly will that be?

Warhammer Age of Sigmar eShorts Week 2023 begins! It features five new short stories from Jonathan Green, Rhuairidh James, Gary Kloster, C L Werner, and Noah Van Nguyen. Each story delves into the myriad mysteries of the Age of Sigmar, as beasts, daemons, and mortal men are caught in a never-ending spiral of chaos and survival.

Each story can be bought separately as they release, but to get all five for the price of four, opt for the full-week subscription.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Gallowfall, Kill Team, Adeptus Titanicus, and Blood Bowl

Kill Team: Gallowfall is the final boxed expansion for this season of Kill Team. A deep-space salvage team from the Leagues of Votann battle with a braying band of Beastmen for possession of long-lost Ironkin cognitive units. This boxed set contains parts and rules for both of these kill teams, as well as a set of Gallowdark terrain with exciting new bells and whistles to play nine new missions.

The Fellgor Ravagers are bestial abhumans that have come to call the Gallowdark home, creating profane sites of worship around headstones carved from chunks of hull. Unruly masses of flesh, fur, teeth, and horns, each one is a skilled hunter and depraved killer. Their savagery stands in the way of the calculating technological might of the Hearthkyn Salvagers, who reclaim valuable relics and resources from the dark corners of the cosmos.

The Beastmen are an all-new kill team, with 10 models who can be built as Fellgor Warriors or a range of fiendish specialists – including an Ironhorn, a Shaman, a Fluxbray and more. The kit also includes loads of interchangeable heads and horns, for that full custom Chaos experience.

The Leagues of Votann kill team comprises a set of Hearthkyn Warriors with an additional sprue of new upgrade components, allowing you to build operatives such as the Kognitâar, Lugger, and Jump-pack Warrior.

The set also contains Kill Team: Gallowfall, a 120-page tome containing full rules for using both teams and the new terrain pieces in a set of nine linked missions. As for terrain, you get a full set of Gallowdark corridors and hatches, plus 18 new pieces including escape pods, autopsy tables, surgical chairs, stasis pods, medical supply tables, and iron lungs. On top of that, there’s a double-sided game board and a sheet of Leagues of Votann transfers!

The Adeptus Arbites get their first standalone release for roughly two decades with Kill Team: Exaction Squad, and this Exaction Squad is very flexible. The kit can build an Exaction Squad kill team of 10 Arbitrators and a loyal R-VR Cyber-mastiff, with plenty of specialists trained to track down the Imperium’s most wanted.

Those who want to bring the law to the battlefields of Warhammer 40,000 can also build a whole Subductor Squad armed with shock mauls and assault shields, or a full Vigilant Squad armed with combat shotguns and heavier weaponry – both of which get a R-VR Cyber-mastiff of their own.

Killzone Upgrade: Soulshackle helps to add some variety to your killzone. It includes four breach points – with pop-out damaged wall action – and additional terrain details like a holoith dias, augur displays, and hatchway jammers. You can use these upgrades to build your dream killzone, and to augment your Boarding Action games with the new Breaching Operation missions found in Arks of Omen: The Lion.

The Kill Team: Fellgor Ravagers Dice Set will help gain favors with the Chaos Gods. They’re cast in black with orange pips and the Fellgor Ravagers logo on the six face.

The ever-useful Stratagem cards return in four themed packs, previously available for a limited time only. Loyalist and Traitor Princeps each get a pack of their own handy reference cards, containing seven Stratagems unique to their chosen allegiance, nine Legio-specific cards, and 10 general cards usable by any side.

The Defence of Ryza card pack grants access to Experimental Warfare and Tricks and Tactics Stratagems, alongside 15 Legio-specific campaign cards usable with the rules found in the Campaign Compendium. Knight Households also get their own Stratagem cards, with universal Knight Stratagems and House-specific options like their larger Legio cousins.

Whip up a Titan-sized battle in moments with the Open Engine War Card Pack – a selection of 50 cards that make setting up your games a doddle. Randomly selected cards give plenty of Deployment Maps, Primary and Secondary Objectives, and optional Planetary Effects to ensure no two battles are quite alike, and all you’ll need is the base Adeptus Titanicus Rulebook to use them.

Leave the opposing team battered and bruised with Dribl & Drull, a pair of low-down dirty players to add to your Lustrian Superleague teams. Dribl and Drull are a pair of infuriatingly sneaky skinks who will work in tandem to tackle and stab their way to victory while dancing beyond reach of reprisal. This pack contains two resin models.

Withergrasp Doubledrool is a heavily mutated Beastman with two heads and tentacles aplenty. He/they employs his/their god-given gifts in “Favoured of…” teams, proving difficult to take down, and even harder to escape from when they take up residence on the line of scrimmage. Withergrasp Doubledrool will be available in resin.

The Great Devourer: The Leviathan Omnibus is a collection of stories featuring these ravenous xenos by Black Library authors Guy Haley, Josh Reynolds, Braden, Campbell, Joe Parrion, L J Goulding, and Nick Kyme. This hefty collection will be available in paperback.

The Order of Our Martyred Lady is filled with the most battle-hungry and renowned warriors across the Adepta Sororitas. Sister Helewise and her fellow Sororitas will have their faith tested as they follow in the footsteps of the legendary Saint Katherine in a mission fraught with disaster. Justin D Hill’s Pilgrims of Fire is the first story in a series covering the major Orders, and will be available in hardback, eBook, and audiobook formats.

Meeting your heroes is never a good idea, and it might be an even worse prospect in the 41st Millennium. Ace pilot Lucille von Shard is set to star in a cinema-pict about the air war on planet Bacchus, but the hero Imperial Propagandist Kile Simlex expects to find turns out to be an arrogant misanthrope… who just so happens to be the only thing between the approaching Green Storm. Outgunned is a high-flying tale by Denny Flowers, and will be available in paperback.

Colonel Haskell ‘Hell Fist’ Aldalon and the Catachan 57th Jungle Fighters have been dispatched to Gondwa VI to help prise it from the grip of an ever-growing ork threat. Their plan is to go on a full offensive and retake a strategically vital stronghold, but there are complications afoot – among them, a hapless rookie tagging along… German readers can enjoy Catachan Devil by Justin Woolley for the first time in paperback and eBook.

The T’au Empire has shot down a Valkyrie carrying an Astra Militarum general on the besieged planet of Dasht i-Kevar. The secrets they will gain may imperil the entire war effort – unless Captain Bharath Obeysekera and his squad of elite Kasrkin can weather the hazards of the desert wastes and get the general back. Kasrkin by Edoardo Albert will be available for French readers in hardback and eBook.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Commander Farsight enters the Arks of Omen

It’s a Warhammer 40K focused pre-order next week from Games Workshop. Arks of Omen continues with a new book and lots of releases to help start your forces or expand your existing ones.

Vashtorr the Arkifane’s quest for the Key-fragments is nearing its end, and the action turns to the dead world of Arthas Moloch in Arks of Omen: Farsight.

The book expands Boarding Actions. Dark Depths missions allow you to mix up your battlefields and introduces multiplayer games for three or four players. There are also expanded Boarding Actions rules for T’au Empire, Asuryani and Ynnari, Drukhari, Harlequins, and Adepta Sororitas Boarding Patrols, which add further Stratagems and Enhancements for your crew.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Astra Militarum gets reinforcements and Black Library Celebration

The Astra Militarum is front and center in next week’s Games Workshop pre-orders. After an initial release, there’s more coming to fill out the ranks!

The Combat Patrol: Astra Militarum is a solid start to a force or a great way to expand one. It features a five-man Cadian Command squad, 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a Sentinel, and two Field Ordnance Battery pieces.

The Cadian Castellan direct the flow of battle and features multiple options for arms, weapons, and heads.

The Commissar maintains morale and discipline and helps troops pass their Combat Attrition tests.

Attilan Rough Riders provide speed with their explosive cavalry charges that help hit armor with their melta tips or shred infantry with their frag tips.

The Cadian Upgrades features 87 components including extra heads, arms, and accessories, and helps create medics, map readers, and more.

You can prepare for the attack with the Aegis Defence Line. Help build up your battlefield with this platform and barricade pieces.

The Black Library Celebration 2023 is here!

This year’s figure is Captain Messinius from the Dawn of Fire series. He’s armed with a plasma pistol and an ornate power fist.

Dawn of Fire: The Iron Kingdom is the fifth installment in the Dawn of Fire series and written by Nick Kyme. The special edition is limited to 2,000 numbers copies signed by the author. They contain full-color interior art, a map, the short story Kin, a leather effect cover, and a gold ribbon bookmark. It’ll also be available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook.

The End and the Death Volume I by Dan Abnett is the culmination of the Siege of Terra. Terra’s final days are at hand. Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Slaves to Darkness descends while Horus Ascends

The first pre-order weekend of 2023 focused on Warhammer 40K and the second is focused on Age of Sigmar. While their initial box was released last year, Slaves of Darkness is starting to get a proper release plus more for the game.

General’s Handbook – Pitched Battles 2022-23 Season 2 kicks off the new season of Matched Play. The 96-page spiral-bound book contains a new Battleplack. It includes fundamental changes, new battleplans, grand strategies, and battle tactics that mix up the game. It’s a must for anyone that enjoys Matched Play events.

Battletome: Slaves to Darkness has everything you need for rules in a regular and limited edition version. The book is 128 pages and allows you to field your dark legions.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Cadia Stands while Goffs Rock

With the teases increasing recently, it’s not surprising that Cadia and the Astra Militarum are the center of this coming week’s pre-orders from Games Workshop.

The Cadia Stands: Astra Militarum Army Set launches the update to the Astra Militarum. It features 28 new miniatures. That includes 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a five-man Cadian Command Squad, a Sentinel with Armoured and Sentinel configurations, and two Field Ordnance teams.

The box also features an exclusive copy of Codex: Astra Militarum and 63 datacards.

The box will have a 13-day pre-order window coming to shelves on Black Friday.

Are you ready to rock? Then the Ork Goff Rocker is for you. This year’s Christmas miniature is the Goff Rocker updating the classic trio of models. Of course, he’ll be getting some mini-games so you can bring him to the tabletop.

It’s a fantasy sort of week for Games Workshop with next week’s pre-orders!

Nagash’s legions are back with Battletome: Nighthaunt! It features everything you need to bring this army to unlife. Get the regular edition or the limited collector’s edition which features a soft-touch cover, red ribbon marker, gilt page edges, and gold foil blocking.

You can show off your loyalty and keep track of your forces with the Nighthaunt Warscroll Cards and Dice.

Maybe Morathi’s bloodthirsty daughters are your thing? Battletome: Daughters of Khaine is also being released with new and updated rules, lore, and abilities for the six temples of Khaine! It too has a regular and collector’s edition.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Knights are coming to 40K

After weeks of teases, next week sees the pre-order releases for Knights for both Chaos and the Imperium!

You’ll be able to get the Chaos Knights Army Set which allows for dozens of configurations as you build you machines of death. It’s the first place to get hold of the new Chaos Knights kits, the codex, and datacards. You can build a Knight Abominant as well as two War Dogs, great to reinforce your army or build a whole new one!

The codex is a special edition with a soft-touch cover. Also included are 50 datacards that feature generic stratagems for use by any Chaos Knight army, special stratagems for six individual Dread Houses, and six Warp Storm Discipline psychic powers. Also included is a transfer sheet with almost 600 decals!

This is your first chance to get this force, new rules, and models!

The Imperium isn’t outdone. You can get Codex: Imperial Knights too! The new codex features all the rules you need to get them to the tabletop plus all the background you need to build out your force. You can get a Collector’s edition which features a soft-touch cover, ribbon bookmark, and grand glit lettering, or get the regular edition.

You can also get Imperial Knights Datacards which help you keep track of Stratagems and Knightly teachings during battle. . Also included are cards for the Households-specific Stratagems for House Terryn, House Griffith, House Cadmus, House Hawkshroud, House Mortan, House Raven, House Taranis, House Krast, and House Vulker.
