Explore and Battle in the Deepest Catacombs with Cullen Bunn

Deepest Catacombs

Writer Cullen Bunn has announced a new fantasy adventure comic, Deepest Catacombs. The story, which will feature dozens of artists, is inspired by the one-page advertisements for Dungeons and Dragons that appeared in comics in the 80s.

The comic will be released online in one-page installments. Each installment will be drawn by different artists with a mix of long-established pros and up-and-coming talent. When read together, the installments tell a complete story.

The heroes of Deepest Catacombs include Randall, the would-be knight; Kezira, the mage; Annalynn, the far-ranger; Fingerbones, the goblin thief; and Chops, Kezira’s pig familiar.

Art for the first two installments (and the “cover” image And character designs) was provided by A.C. Zamudio and Nick Zamudio. Other installments will be illustrated by a host of surprise artists. The first wave of the project will run 24 pages, though Bunn is already planning a second wave.

The story will be released online through Bunn’s Patreon page. It will be open to the public. There will be behind-the-scenes material such as character and creature designs and scripts, as well as role-playing game content for the 5th Edition of Dungeons and Dragons, released to patrons only.

Bunn is working with frequent collaborator Anton Kromoff of Old Magic Gaming to release these stories. Kromoff is doing design work on the project, creating the logo, setting up page templates, and lettering the stories. He is also working with Bunn and some of the other creators to develop gaming content set in the world of Deepest Catacombs.

The first installments of Deepest Catacombs go live the week of August 9 – 15 on Bunn’s Patreon.

Celebrate 25 Years with The Great Dalmuti: Dungeons & Dragons!

The Great Dalmuti: Dungeons & Dragons

You can fall from the top of the heap to ruthless beholder-spawn in an instant – and that’s part of the fun in The Great Dalmuti: Dungeons & Dragons! To commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Great Dalmuti, Wizards of the Coast is releasing a new Dungeons & Dragons-inspired version of the classic card game. Baronesses with their highfalutin hats were turned to stone by snarky medusas, goofy jesters were chased into the castle moat by giggling gnolls, and the super snooty archbishops have all undergone the long process of ceremorphosis to become evil mind flayers. Building on the success of the award-winning card game designed by Richard GarfieldThe Great Dalmuti: Dungeons & Dragons will test players’ fates and status in a fun, easy-to-learn, and fast-paced card game. The deck includes 13 cards, including the iconic Great Dalmuti, and new D&D-flavored card names accompanied by beautiful and evocative illustrations by artist Harry Conway.

In the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game, the dice may control your fate, but in The Great Dalmuti, it’s about how cleverly you play the cards you’re dealt with. One round you’re polishing your royal crown, and the next you’re whacking rats in a filthy alley. Perfect for ages 8 and up and up to 8 players – it’s a gloat-filled, winner-take-all contest.

The Great Dalmuti: Dungeons & Dragons will be available everywhere in November – just in time for the holidays – and will retail for $14.99.
