Wizards of the Coast today announces Dark Alliance

Wizards of the Coast has announced that Dark Alliance, the explosive action roleplaying game that builds upon the rich lore of the Forgotten Realms in Dungeons & Dragons, launches on June 22, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One Consoles and Xbox Series X|S.

Developed by Wizards Studio, Tuque Games, and set in the Forgotten Realms, the game features real-time combat and dynamic co-op gameplay, and pits the infamous Drizzt Do’Urden and his legendary companions – Catti-brie, Bruenor, and Wulfgar – against some of the most iconic monsters from the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Frost Giants, Beholders, and White Dragons roam the frozen tundra of Icewind Dale in search of the Crystal Shard— and it’s up to the companions to muster the strength to stop them from claiming and using it to destroy their home.

Starting today, fans can pre-order the Digital Edition for $39.99 online vor the standard edition and retail-exclusive Steelbook edition for $59.99 at select retailers. The Steelbook edition includes a Steelbook case, a printed art book, a downloadable Dungeons & Dragons soundtrack, a Beholder and Lich weapon set, and the forthcoming expansion “Echoes of the Blood War”. Fans can also opt to pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition for $59.99 that includes the upcoming expansion “Echoes of the Blood War” and the Lich weapon set. All pre-orders – regardless of edition or platform – will receive an exclusive in-game Beholder weapon set at launch.

Wizards of the Coast is making it easy to assemble your party. Players who purchase Dark Alliance on PlayStation 4 will receive a free digital download code so that they can upgrade to the PlayStation 5, and vice versa. Players who preorder on Xbox One Consoles or Xbox Series X|S will only have to buy the game once and receive it on both platforms through Smart Delivery.

IDW Announces Dungeons & Dragons: A Darkened Wish Comic Series

The Forgotten Realms, the fantasy setting beloved by Dungeons & Dragons fans the world over, is the centerpiece for IDW Publishing’s all-new comic book miniseries, subtitled A Darkened Wish. Debuting in February 2019, the five-issue series will be written by B. Dave Walters with art by Tess Fowler.

In A Darkened Wish, years of hard-fought peace in the Sea of Swords are rent asunder, and legendary heroes must return to the region to defeat an unconceivable foe! Join Helene, a young wizard from the streets of Mintarn, and her friends as they grow from raw recruits to battle-honed warriors.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage for Dungeons & Dragons

Wizards of the Coast has revealed two new campaigns for Dungeons & Dragons both set in the world of Forgotten Realms.

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is focused on characters levels 1-5 in the city, and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage is for characters levels 5-20 in Undermountain. The two volumes can either stand on their own or be used together. Each will retail for $49.95.

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist features a quest for famed explorer Volothamp Geddarm, leading to a grand urban caper in which they uncover a villainous plot involving some of the city’s most influential figures. It comes to shelves September 19.

Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage has players explore all 23 levels of the dungeon Undermountain and the subterranean refuge of Skullport. The dungeon is found as a gaping pit in Yawning Portal, a Waterdeep tavern. The dungeon is the domain of the mad Wizard Halaster Blackcloak, along with his monsters, traps, and mysteries. The book will be released November 13.

The two new books will also have new accessories. The Waterdeep: Dragon Heist Dice, a set of two d20s, one d12, two d10s, one d8, four d6s, one d4, and one hit point tracker. It will be released November 13 and will retail for $24.95.

Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage Map Pack, also due out November 13 and will retail for $24.95. The release provides maps for the bulk of Halaster’s Blackcoak dungeon under Mount Waterdeep.

The new Starter Set includes 44 dice to collect and battle with in head-to-head fantasy combat. People who enjoyed the unique feel of Dice Masters: Battle for Faerûn will find more of what they loved in this release.

Wizards of the Coast Gives us a Glimpse at Dungeons & Dragons in 2015

dnd players handbook featuredAt PAX Prime 2014, Wizards of the Coast provided a glimpse of what Dungeons & Dragons will offer in 2015, with new digital offerings set in the Forgotten Realms from partners including Backflip Studios, Beamdog and Cryptic Studios with Perfect World Entertainment.

Throughout 2014, D&D has ignited excitement in the game industry with a celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary, the launch of new rules for the tabletop RPG, and the exciting and engaging Tyranny of Dragons storyline.

Neverwinter MMORPG on Xbox One

Rob Overmeyer confirmed that the highly-acclaimed free-to-play MMORPG, Neverwinter, will be coming to Xbox One in the first half of 2015. At launch, console gamers will be able to experience the fast-paced combat and epic dungeons all set in the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe.

Dungeons & Dragons Partners with Backflip Studios

Ryan Drag unveiled that Backflip Studios is designing a “castle defense” style D&D game for mobile. The partnership is a natural fit as Backflip shares a common passion for the D&D brand, which is underscored in the recently released Developer Video. The mobile game is set to release in 2015 and additional information will be announced in the coming months.

Beamdog Continues to “Enhance” the Sword Coast

Trent Oster from Beamdog announced Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is coming to iOS, Android and PC later this year. Trent also revealed two updates for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, including availability on iPhone and the capacity to have multiplayer work across different platforms. All three Enhanced Editions are classic D&D computer RPGs that have been rebooted for play on modern tablets and PCs.
