Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is the third book in the Arks of Omen story. The story focuses on the siege of the Rock, as Vastorr searches for a powerful component in his diabolical goal. The Dark Angels aren’t taking this invasion lightly, and rally their forces as a mysterious third party enters the slaughter.

This is a big part of the narrative, not only featuring a book but a boxed set to go with it.

The book features The Rock Besieged, a Boarding Actions campaign with eight new narrative missions telling the story of the raid. There are also additional Boarding Action rules for Chaos Daemons, Necrons, Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, the Death Guard, and the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is also available in regular and Collector’s Edition which features a cover embossed with silver foil, printed page edges, and a black ribbon page marker.

New Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrols Make Your 2022 Army Building Easier

Games Workshop has revealed new Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrols for 2022 to help build out your forces or start a new one!

T’au, Grey Knights, Adeptus Custodes, Genestealer Cults, and Thousand Sons are all getting new Combat Patrol releases.

Combat Patrols have retailed for $140 and featured pretty decent savings. If things remain the same, how do these stack up?

  • T’au: ~$218 retail separately, the Ethereal figure currently is only in the Start Collecting box.
  • Grey Knights: ~$175, the box features a five man Strike Squad making the value a little less than others.
  • Adeptus Custodes: ~$218, the box has a nice mix and is one of the more intriguing releases and the box’s value will really be determined by what units you can make out of it as is.
  • Genestealer Cults: ~$258, if this one keeps the regular retail price for the boxes, it might be one of the best values out there and as far as a force, this one looks like a really solid way to start.
  • Thousand Sons: ~$178, the character included isn’t currently offered on its own so this one’s a bit of a guess. The inclusion of so many Tzaangors and no Rubric Marines is a bit odd.

Warhammer Day 2021: Genestealer Cults vs. Adeptus Custodes in Shadow Throne

During Warhammer Day 2021, Games Workshop pulled back the curtain and revealed two new updated Codexes that will be coming soon for Warhammer 40,000. Also revealed was a brand-new campaign box, “Shadow Throne“.

Genestealer Cults have found their way to the heart of the Imperium and the Adeptus Custodes will step up to stop this insidious threat.

The Adeptus Custoddes get a new character in Aristothes Carvellan, a Blade Champion whose strength is his swordsmanship. Blade Champions are a new type of character for the force and can switch between three different fighting styles to take on the challenge of different opponents.

Aristothes Carvellan

Genestealer Cults get backup as well with Mersea Thrayk, a Reductus Saboteur. She seeds the battlefield with explosives before the battle is joined.

Mersea Thrayk

Also included in “Shadow Throne” is a 32-page book with narrative missions to play out the Unthinkable War.

Both forces get codexes as well later this year.

Codex: Adeptus Custodes is a big one as it combines the Talons of the Emperor into one book by containing Sisters of Silence. That means psyker-killing power of the Silent Sisters added to your Shield Host! Also included are new Stratagems, Relics, and Warlord Traits.

Codex: Adeptus Custodes

Codex: Genestealer Cults is also coming featuring updated rules that are very thematic for the force. You’ll now be able to leap from hiding and catch targets in a lethal crossfire, rewarding positioning with bonuses to shooting attacks.

The World of Warhammer 40,000 Comes to Risk

Risk: Warhammer 40,000

Usaopoly (The Op) dives deeper into the world of Games Workshop‘s Warhammer 40,000 with Risk: Warhammer 40,000.

Battle with your favorite factions for control of the planet Vigilus in the Battle of the War of the Beasts. Take control of your faction and attempt to vanquish your foes across the unique planet map that has been customized for Warhammer 40,000 fans. In this Risk game, custom sculpted units will allow you to control the key locations in your bid to rule the planet!

Risk: Warhammer 40,000

Vigilus is a notable world in the Imperium Nihilus, a region of space that became isolated from the greater Imperium due to the formation of the Great Rift at the end of the Thirteenth Black Crusade. The “Dark Imperium,” as it is known is known so as the light of the Astronomican is obscured making travel difficult. The planet was the location of a recent series of campaign books released for the Warhammer 40,000 miniature game.

Vigilus is at the mercy of five warring Factions: Ultramarines, Orks, Chaos Space Marines, Aeldari Craftworlds, and Genestealer Cults, each represented by tokens for their Leaders and custom game pieces for their single and triple-threat units.

Risk: Warhammer 40,000

To name a few, Marneus Calgar leads the Ultramarines with individual Primaris Intercessors and Repulsor battle tanks as their three-unit pieces. The Aeldari Craftworlds faction, led by an Autarch, has Guardians at attention with Falcons as their tanks. A Magus’s Genestealer Cult boasts weapon-wielding Acolytes and heavily armored Goliath Rockgrinders. All five factions’ Leaders have various special abilities, while armies are deployed with daring attacks and defense at the roll of custom red and black dice. Players gain Reward Cards for completing objectives, allowing the acquisition of additional armies and providing strategic advantages. Conquer not only three objectives, but total control of all territories to win “Total Domination”!

Retailing for $49.99 the game is for 2-5 players ages 10 and up.
