Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Knights hit the Horus Heresy battlefield, the return of 40K Terrain, and Vampires for Blood Bowl!

There’s a lot on tap next week for pre-orders from Games Workshop. Horus Heresy, terrain for Warhammer 40K, Blood Bowl, and more are coming!

For Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, two new Knights will stride the battlefield in plastic. Bonus, you can use them in Warhammer 40,000 too!

The Cerastus Knight Acheron is a variant of the Knight Cerastus. Armed with a flamestorm cannon and reaper chainfist, it can clear infantry in great gouts of superheated promethium or wide sweeps of its chainblade.

The Cerastus Knight Castigator fights mid-range with its boltcannon and features a warblade when it needs to get in close for melee.

If you need to pack your battlefield, there’s a lot of terrain returning for Made to Order. They’ll be available from September 23rd to October 2nd.

There are six returning terrain kits: the classic Aegis Defence Line, the Imperial Bastion, the Skyshield Landing Pad, the Imperial Bunker, the Imperial Defence Emplacement, and the Imperial Defence Line. They are joined by the Warhammer 40,000 Hero Bases and the Sector Imperialis Large Base Detail Kit.

Blood Bowl does not suck… but now it does with The Drakfang Thirsters! Vampires are back with a new plastic kit featuring 14 players including two Vampire Blitzers, two Vampire Runners, two Vampire Throwers, and eight Thralls. You also get all the usual balls, coins, and tokens – and a transfer sheet.

But, what’s a team without star players?

Vargheist is a Brute, rampaging across the pitch. Strong, fast, frenzied, and wanting to drink blood. It comes from Forge World in resin.

Count Luthor von Drakenborg gets an updated miniature and it’s pretty impressive. He grants an extra reroll and doesn’t need to drink blood, get him from Forge World in resin. He can play for all Sylvanian Spotlight teams.

‘Captain’ Karina von Riesz is new on the pitch and features strength and dexterity. Also from Forge World in resin, she’s perfect for the Sylvanian Spotlight team.

Ivan ‘the Animal’ Deathshroud is reanimated once more for Sylvanian Spotlight teams. Tough and ready to smash your opponent, you can get him from Forge World in resin.

You’ll need rules and Spike! Journal Issue 16 has you covered with that and more. It features rules, tactics, lore, and more.

And finally, you can get Vampire Team Pitch, Cards, and Dice as well to round out your vampire collection.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring – Battle in Balin’s Tomb is for two players and pits them in a battle to hold the One Ring. It features the Fellowship featuring nin models taking on 12 Goblins of Moria as well as a Cave Troll. It features all the dice and tokens you need to play.

From Black Library is Ciaphas Cain: For the Emperor by Sandy Mitchell. This limited edition version features 2,000 copies signed by the author, fancy binding and ribbons, and an additional short story, Rotten to the Core.

The Chapter’s Due gets an MP3 release. After defeating T’au forces, Captain Uriel Ventris of the Ultramarines returns to the Chapter’s homeworld of Macragge to defend the Ultramar system from an Iron Warriors Warband led by Warsmith Honsou. Get this classic tale from Graham McNeill.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Black Library and Warhammer Heroes Series 4

It’s an intriguing light week for next week’s Games Workshop pre-orders with multiple releases from Black Library being the highlight.

Creed: Ashes of Cadia picks up decades since the Fall of Cadia. Ursula Creed heads to the shattered remains of the Cadian homeworld, a broken hellscape of deadly secrets. The book by Jude Reid will be available as a regular hardback, eBook, and audiobook formats as well as a fantastic Special Edition.

The Special Edition is embossed with a cloth cover with shining gold foil and includes the extra short story Creed: Chains of Command. Each of the 1,750 limited copies is individually numbered and signed by the author.

Valdor: Birth of the Imperium by Chris Wraight takes us to the beginning of the Unification Wars, where the warlords of Old Terra have fallen and questions on the fate of the Thunder Warriors must be answered. Change rarely comes bloodlessly in the 31st Millennium, and Valdor has a web of intrigue to navigate if the nascent Imperium is to claim its destiny among the stars.

Blood of the Emperor is an anthology of short stories from Graham McNeill, Nick Kyme, David Guymer, Andy Clark, Mike Brooks, and Chris Wraight each taking on one of the Primarchs. It’s getting an audiobook release.

The Horus Heresy Collection expands in French and German for the first time. Collection X includes the novels Scars by Chris Wraight, Vengeful Spirit by Graham McNeill, and The Damnation of Pythos by David Annandale, while Sammelband XI collects Legacies of Betrayal and War Without End – each a compilation of many separate short stories – and Deathfire by Nick Kyme into one convenient place. Both are getting a hardbook and eBook edition.

Warhammer Heroes Series 4 is getting a release in the United States, Germany, Japan, China, and Australia but you won’t be able to get it from the Games Workshop webstore. Series 4 comprises seven new miniatures from a variety of Space Marine squads, featuring Intercessors, an Assault Intercessor, a Heavy Intercessor, an Eliminator, and a Captain.

Unlike the previous series, this one is focused on Kill Team as a unique faction. Each figure comes with a Kill Team datacard with full rules and a ploy for the team to use. All you need is six of the seven operatives to start playing the game!

Dubbed Strike Force Justian, it’s fully Matched Play legal and designed for new players to easily start playing.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Arks of Omen: Vashtorr arrives with Wrath of the Soul Forge King and more!

It’s a big week for Games Workshop‘s world of Warhammer 40K in next week’s pre-orders. Arks of Omen continues as Vashtorr arrives!

Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is the third book in the Arks of Omen story. The story focuses on the siege of the Rock, as Vastorr searches for a powerful component in his diabolical goal. The Dark Angels aren’t taking this invasion lightly, and rally their forces as a mysterious third party enters the slaughter.

This is a big part of the narrative, not only featuring a book but a boxed set to go with it.

The book features The Rock Besieged, a Boarding Actions campaign with eight new narrative missions telling the story of the raid. There are also additional Boarding Action rules for Chaos Daemons, Necrons, Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, the Death Guard, and the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is also available in regular and Collector’s Edition which features a cover embossed with silver foil, printed page edges, and a black ribbon page marker.

You can play out Vashtorr’s invasion with the Wrath of the Soul Forge King box set. This is the first place you can get Vashtorr the Arkifane and Supreme Grand Master Azrael.

This set also contains a Venomcrawler, two Obliterators, and 10 Chaos Cultists, facing down 10 Intercessors and five Deathwing Terminators who make up Azrael’s honor guard. You also get two Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade frames and a set of 155 Dark Angels transfers.

You can show off your loyalty with the Vashtorr Dice Set. Go with a new Chaos God! The dice pack features 15 dice with Vashtorr’s own special symbol on the 6 face.

There are a number of new Board Patrol boxes being released to help expand or start your forces!

Boarding Patrol: Adeptus Mechanicus comprises a Tech-Priest Dominus and 10 Skitarii Vanguard, who can also be built as Rangers. You’ll also find a cadre of five Sicarian Infiltrators – who can also be built as Ruststalkers – and a trio of heavily armed Kataphron Destroyers – which can also be built as Breachers.

Boarding Patrol: Chaos Daemons is a Khorne-flavoured Boarding Patrol with 10 Flesh Hounds and 10 Bloodletters led by Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance.

Boarding Patrol: Death Guard is led by a putrid Lord of Virulence, with three Deathshroud Terminators, and 10 Plague Marines.

Boarding Patrol: Genestealer Cults is made up of a Kelemorph, an Abominant, five Aberrants, and 10 Acolyte Hybrids – who can also be built as Hybrid Metamorphs.

You can represent your force a bit easier with the Imperial Knights Dice Set and Chaos Knights Dice Sets. Both feature 15 dice with a helmed icon on the 6 face, and Imperial Knights get a two-tone blue dice with silvery pips, while the Chaos Knights get a two-tone red dice with golden pips.

The Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game is getting a few releases.

Faramir, Madril and Damrod, Rangers of Ithilien were first found in The Lord of the Rings Battle of Osgiliath boxed set. These versatile and mighty heroes are now available together in their own box, each with a choice of ruins or wooded scenery for their base.

Gothmog, Lieutenant of Sauron is a two-pack featuring the twisted and scarred Orc general both on foot and atop a slobbering, bloodthirsty Warg mount. Both versions come with a choice of sword or mace, plus an optional shield – you can even dismount Gothmog to field his Warg on its own.

Warhammer: The Horus Heresy also sees new releases to field or upgrade your army.

The Typhon Heavy Siege Tank was designed to suit the battleplans of Perturabo himself, this modified Land Raider sports a massive dreadhammer siege cannon that can reduce buildings to rubble and flatten whole squads.

Exodus – The One Who Is Many is the premier assassin of the Alpha Legion. Is this master sniper one man, or many sharing the same appearance?

Traitor Esoterist Consuls are Librarians who dabbled in forbidden lore. They use empyrean as a weapon, tearing holes in reality to fling arcane bolts at their foes and summon hordes of howling daemons.

Raven Guard MKVI Upgrades let you equip your units with retro-style prototype helmets, and shoulder pads embellished with their corvine emblem.

Alpha Legion MKVI Upgrades features helmets and shoulders that feature the intricate patterns and writhing hydra motif of the XX Legion.

The Character Heads Upgrade Sets is two packs of 15 unique resin heads – compatible with a huge range of plastic and resin Space Marine kits, such as the MKVI Tactical Squad.

White Dwarf 486 is packed with rules for the new Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Regiments of Renown, multiplayer rules for Kill Team, conveyor belt cards and rules for Boarding Actions, and cards for using Gryselle’s Arenai in games of Warcry.

Cypher: Lord of The Fallen (Limited Edition) by John French pits the most mysterious figure in the 41st Millennium against hunting packs of Dark Angels, Adeptus Custodes, and Imperial Assassins.

This tale of truth and lies – told from Cypher’s unreliable point of view – will be available first as a luxurious limited edition hardback that’s limited to just 2,000 signed and numbered copies.

Ahriman: Eternal is the fourth installment of John French’s Ahriman series. It’ll be released as a paperback book The powerful sorcerer searches for Necron time-altering technology to undo past wrongs, while Aeldari Harlequins nip at his heels and discord blossoms in his ranks. You can also get it in French.

Knight of Talassar: The Cato Sicarius Omnibus by Nick Kyme collects two novels, two novellas, and two short stories. Immerse yourself in the tales of the High Suzerain of Ultramar in your choice of paperback or eBook.

The Rise of The Horned Rat by Guy Haley is being released as an audiobook. Verminlords stalk the World-that-Was, and two rival kings prepare to face the full force of Queek Headtaker’s verminous horde in the fourth book of the End Times series.

Wrath of The Lost by Chris Forrester is being released in German as either paperback or eBook. Chaplain Duman and Apothecary Barachiel set sail to secure the Flesh Tearers’ homeworld of Cretacia, which has been left without a standing garrison during the Indomitus Crusade.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Astra Militarum gets reinforcements and Black Library Celebration

The Astra Militarum is front and center in next week’s Games Workshop pre-orders. After an initial release, there’s more coming to fill out the ranks!

The Combat Patrol: Astra Militarum is a solid start to a force or a great way to expand one. It features a five-man Cadian Command squad, 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a Sentinel, and two Field Ordnance Battery pieces.

The Cadian Castellan direct the flow of battle and features multiple options for arms, weapons, and heads.

The Commissar maintains morale and discipline and helps troops pass their Combat Attrition tests.

Attilan Rough Riders provide speed with their explosive cavalry charges that help hit armor with their melta tips or shred infantry with their frag tips.

The Cadian Upgrades features 87 components including extra heads, arms, and accessories, and helps create medics, map readers, and more.

You can prepare for the attack with the Aegis Defence Line. Help build up your battlefield with this platform and barricade pieces.

The Black Library Celebration 2023 is here!

This year’s figure is Captain Messinius from the Dawn of Fire series. He’s armed with a plasma pistol and an ornate power fist.

Dawn of Fire: The Iron Kingdom is the fifth installment in the Dawn of Fire series and written by Nick Kyme. The special edition is limited to 2,000 numbers copies signed by the author. They contain full-color interior art, a map, the short story Kin, a leather effect cover, and a gold ribbon bookmark. It’ll also be available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook.

The End and the Death Volume I by Dan Abnett is the culmination of the Siege of Terra. Terra’s final days are at hand. Limited to 2,500 copies, the book features internal illustrations, a foldout map depicting the ruined Imperial Palace, faux leather cover, gold page edges, a red ribbon bookmark, and signed by Abnett. It’ll also be available as a hardback, eBook, and audiobook.

Every order on the Games Workshop webstore from February 18th will receive the Black Library Celebration 2023, a compilation of Black Library stories. The English version contains short stories by Justin D Hill, Noah Van Nguyen, Michael F Haspil, David Annandale, and Jude Reid, while the French and German versions contain a different set of stories by David Annandale, William King, Dan Abnett, Guy Haley, and Graham McNeill.

Angels of Darkness by Gav Thorpe returns with a 20th-anniversary re-release.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Tyranids, Head to Thondia, Made to Order, and more!

After weeks of teasing, the Tyranids are coming! The release of the army is the highlight for Games Workshop’s pre-orders next week.

You’ll need to get the new Codex: Tyranids which features all of the updated rules you’ll need to build your swarm. The book features 128-pages and is available in a regular and Collector’s Edition.

With a new codex comes a new miniature in the Parasite of Mortex. The bat-winged horror attacks the enemy with its razor-sharp claws but it’s the ovipositor tail you need to watch out for.

If you need a quick way to build your force, there’s the Combat Patrol: Tyranids. The box features 36 Termagants, a Hive Tyrant, three Tyranid Warriors, and three Ripper Swarms for about 25 Power Level’s worth of miniatures.

You can show off your dedication to the swarm with Tyranids Datacards and Dice Sets.

Space Marines get some reinforcements with some classic models that’ll be available Made to Order. You can get these Space Marine Captains to add to your force.

For Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, head to Thondia!

Season of War: Thondia contains rules for playing in the savage lands in open, narrative, and matched play. There’s also the terrifying incarnation of Ghur itself – the Krondspine Incarnate! The book is available in a regular and a limited edition version.

Realmscape: Thondian Strongpoint arrives delivering more scenery and terrain for the tabletop.

You might need a board to play on and Realmscape: Thondian Expanse has you covered. The fold-out double-sided board takes you to the wind-swept heartlands. Get multiple boards for bigger games! One side features cracked, red earth littered with bones while the other is a dark and gloomy marsh.

Head to Middle-Earth with more classic miniatures celebrating 20 years!

One of the earliest releases for the game, The Fellowship of the Ring gathers once again! This set of nine models is a classic.

Another classic is The Battle at Khazad-dûm allowing you to re-enact the iconic scene. You get the Balrog and Gandalf in this set.

Escape from Orthanc features Gandalf, the great eagle Gwaihir, the sought-after Palantir, and Saruman.

Attack at Weathertop has the Ringwraiths attacking the hobbits in this set of ten miniatures that includes Aragorn, the Witch-King of Angmar, and a tiny fireplace.

Wrapping things up is the Ambush at Amon Hen recreating this key moment. Here’s your opportunity to get Boromir with arrows sticking out!

Games Workshop newest pre-orders are here and it’s full of highly anticipated releases. There’s something for everyone this week!

For Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, Krondys and Karazai are coming! The Sons of Dracothian are here to fight on behalf of the Stormcast Eternals. Krondys brings powerful Draconith magic while Karazai lets his rage take over. The kit retails for $150.

Joining them are the Stormdrake Guard. These dragon-riding Stormcast pack a mighty punch, especially when fielded in all-dragon armies. You can also make them into Knight-Draconis. The kit retails for $110.

Fans of Blood Bowl have a lot coming.

Dungeon Bowl is the subterranean version of Blood Bowl. Full of chests and portals hiding the ball, the Colleges of Magic gather their teams to settle scores. The box set retails for $160 on the Games Workshop website but you can get it from other retailers for $136.

Expand your Goblin teams with accessories like a dice set, card pack, and double-sided pitch with dugouts. The dice retail for $18, the pitch retails for $47, and the cards retail for $27.

The Underhive Outcasts come to Necromunda! This new gang battles it out with the official Houses. While they may be outgunned, they make up for it in their numbers. The gang retails for $42.

You’ll need rules to play them and that’s where the Book of the Outcast comes in. The 136-page book features gang tactics, Hangers-on, Gang Strongholds, and Outcast scenarios as well as a whole Outlander Campaign, plus more! The physical book retails for $47 and a digital version is available.

How about battling it out in a market? You can get the Zone Mortalis: Underhive Market which features the essentials to give your setting some nice flair. The scenery retails for $50.

Underhive Outcasts Gang Tactics are handy reference cards for your Outcast gang fighters, plus 18 tricksy Outcast gang tactics. You can get them for $15.

Battle in Balin’s Tomb with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring™ – Battle in Balin’s Tomb. This new boxed game allows for an easy way to dive into the world of Middle-Earth. Recreate the iconic scene with 22 plastic miniatures that include the Fellowship, 12 Moria Goblins, and a mighty Cave Troll. The game retails for $75.

The box set retails for $150.

Orks are getting an update and to kick off the new Waagh is the Beast Snagga Orks boxed set. The set allows you to start your own Beast Snagga Waaagh! or add them to your existing Ork army.

The set is packed with miniatures as well as an exclusive version of the Ork Codex and a set of Ork datacards and a transfer sheet.

After a few weeks of no new pre-orders, Games Workshop is back with a pretty packed week of new releases. You’ll be able to pre-order all of the below starting next Saturday!

Necromunda gets a new boxed set with Necromunda: Hive War. The new set has everything you need to play and a perfect way for new players to get into the game. The set comes with two gangs, Escher and Delaque with 10 plastic miniatures for each gang and a variety of weapons to arm them.

Also included is a 10-page softback rulebook which includes everything you need to play from how to generate gangs, to the rules, scenarios, and more.

There’s also modular scenary with which you can use to do battle as well as a double-sided gaming mat, dice, tokens, cards, and templates.

Also coming is a Necromunda Underhive Propaganda Transfer Sheet that features 499 decals that you can use to help make your scenery unique and add finishing touches to your own Underhive.

You’ll need to upgrade your gangs which means the need for new weapons. The Weapons & Upgrades Sets has you covered with over 60 alternative components to make your gang even more unique. Two will be released, one for Escher and one for the Goliaths. They include different heads, weapons, and more.

Blood Bowl is getting some love with new releases as well for the Chaos Chosen.

You can get a set of pitch and dugouts for the Chaos Chosen so you can play Blood Bowl honoring the Dark Gods.

You’ll be able to better keep track of your team with the Chaos Chosen Card Pack which is a handy reference. It also includes 20 blank cards to keep track of your team as it develops as well as Special Play cards exclusive to Chaos Chosen teams.

Finally, show your allegiance to the Chaos Gods with the Chaos Chosen Team Dice Pack.

Warhammer Underworlds gets two releases to expand your games with.

Hedkrakka’s Madmob is a new warband of four feral Orruks led by a mask-wearing Shaman. They’re an aggressive warband sure to mix games up and deliver new elements to the Underworlds.

Warhammer Underworlds: Silent Menace Universal Deck is an expansion perfect for every warband. It offers new card options and a greater variety of deckbuilding combos. The release features 32 cards – 12 objectives, 10 gambits, and 10 upgrades. They’re all themed around the treasures and tactics of Beastgrave’s Silent People. The set doesn’t include any spells meaning you don’t need a wizard to get everything out of it.
