IDW Games Announces Amoeba

Amoeba: Divide & Conquer

Get ready for infectious fun as IDW Games is releasing Amoeba, a tile-laying game by HG Game Worx StudioAmoeba is a unique tile-laying game for two to four players in which players draw and place tiles in order to build the biggest Amoebas. Set to release this summer, Amoeba will certainly spread the fun all over your gaming table! The game is by Heidi and Greg Preslicka with colorful, quirky art by Sebastian Koziner and Greg Preslicka.

Amoeba sees players placing tiles to a shared board connecting edges to form different-sized amoebas. The goal of the game is to capture as many amoeba segments as possible by placing Nuclei markers on them. The twist to the game is players may use tiles from their hand to split completed Amoebas and hurt their opponents’ scores. This simple wrinkle adds wonderful tension and endless replayability to a game that can be learned in minutes but stays with you for so much longer.

Look for Amoeba to hit stores in May 2019.

IDW Games’ Wayward Board Game Gets a Signature Edition. Demo the Game at PAX Unplugged

IDW Games has announced the Wayward Board Game – Signature Edition, based on the comic series world by Jim Zub and Steven Cummings, with new art by Cummings and game design by Jonathan GilmourWayward presents players with a highly thematic threat management game and multiple unique and challenging scenarios that push them to take risks, and, in return, grant their characters more powerful abilities and items.

Wayward is a cooperative board game for 1-5 players where each player takes on the role of a teenager with newfound supernatural abilities. The next generation of the supernatural has emerged in Tokyo, and these teens are fighting for their survival and to prevent the Weave – the hidden threads of power and destiny that guide our world – from unraveling. These “wayward children” threaten the old order and the creatures and spirits known as the Yokai are determined to eradicate them before they are usurped. Players choose one of five different scenarios to play, each with its own unique rules and challenges, to defeat the Yokai and destroy their places of power.

Wayward Board Game – Signature Edition will be available on Kickstarter for pre-order in February 2019 for $70.00 and will include exclusive upgraded packaging, miniatures sculpted by Ninja Division, and bonus character with scenario.

Prior to the campaign, fans attending PAX Unplugged (Nov. 30 – Dec. 2) will have the opportunity to demo the game at IDW Games booth #3148.

Men In Black and The Ghostbusters Meet for the First Time Courtesy of IDW Games in 2019

IDW Games and Sony Pictures Consumer Products have announced plans to develop a series of tabletop games for both Men in Black and Ghostbusters franchises including, for the first time, a crossover miniatures board game featuring both Men In Black and Ghostbusters. The multi-year agreement comes ahead of the new Men In Black movie set for June 2019 and Ghostbusters celebrating its 35th Anniversary in June 2019.

Currently under development, Men In Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion will be a miniatures loaded board game featuring the world’s foremost protectors teaming up to take down a threat unlike any they have faced before. Making up the Ghostbusters team will be Peter Venkman, Egon Spangler, Ray Stanz, and Winston Zeddmore, and the MIB team will consist of Agent J, Agent K, Agent L and Zed. While these two teams have faced unearthly threats before, the strength of the Ecto-terrestrials is nearly overwhelming, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a little friendly competition.

With all new character designs by artist Derek Laufman and innovative game design by Panda Cult GamesMen In Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion features a blend of fast action dice-chucking, take-that card play, and highly detailed sculpted miniatures from Ninja Division.

Men In Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion miniatures board game will release in late 2019. Additional stand-alone games for each franchise are also currently in development and slated for release next year.
