Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Slaves to Darkness descends while Horus Ascends

The first pre-order weekend of 2023 focused on Warhammer 40K and the second is focused on Age of Sigmar. While their initial box was released last year, Slaves of Darkness is starting to get a proper release plus more for the game.

General’s Handbook – Pitched Battles 2022-23 Season 2 kicks off the new season of Matched Play. The 96-page spiral-bound book contains a new Battleplack. It includes fundamental changes, new battleplans, grand strategies, and battle tactics that mix up the game. It’s a must for anyone that enjoys Matched Play events.

Battletome: Slaves to Darkness has everything you need for rules in a regular and limited edition version. The book is 128 pages and allows you to field your dark legions.

Vanguard: Slaves to Darkness is an easy way to build your warhost. It contains 17 miniatures including a Chaos Lord, 10 iconic Chaos Warriors in full multi-part glory, five Chaos Knights with the new upgrade sprue, and a chariot which can be pulled by horses or a savage gorebeast for line-breaking charges.

The new Daemon Prince is a kit many are looking forward to. It has a lot of options allowing the miniature to be used in Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000. Different heads, and a choice of weapons, allows you to customize yours to worship a specific Chaos God!

The Chaos Lord on Karkadrak is now available on its own making it easier for you to add this beast to your army.

Eternus, Blade of The First Prince was picked by Be’lakor and imbued him with the souls of Stormcast Eternals creating his own champion. He can also be used to create a generic Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount.

The new Generals’ Handbook favors troops on foot so you might want to get the Exalted Hero of Chaos.

The Chaos Chosen are elite warriors who want to use their soul splitter weapons to free their foes from the burden of the mortal coil.

Chaos Warriors are the iconic bruisers of Chaos. These warriors march into battle with hand weapons or ensorceled halberds to hack their foes.

Chaos Knights quickly smash into their foes ready to skewer them. This release features an upgrade sprue with command options such as banners, instruments and champions’ paraphernalia.

Ogroid Theridons will help pulverize the enemy bringing even more strength to the Slaves to Darkness.

Teased last year, you’ll finally be able to get the Horus Ascended figure for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Horus Lupercal has drunk deep of the power granted by his dark patrons to become Horus Ascended. It’s the next release in the Horus Heresy Character Series.

You can equip your Thousand Sons with the Thousand Sons MKVI Upgrades that features new helmets and shoulder pads.

The Ultramarines MKVI Upgrades let your sons of Hullman stand out featuring new helmets and shoulder pads.

White Dwarf Issue 484 focuses on new Boarding Actions for Warhammer 40K including tiles, a hobby bingo card, and mini photo backdrop.

Written by James Swallow, Garro: Knight of Grey (Limited Edition) is the story of Nathaniel Garro’s final hours during the Horus Heresy and his confrontation with his father Mortarion. The limited edition copy features a deep-red faux leather with inlaid metal emblem and the author’s signature and interior art. It’s limited to 2500 copies.

Games Workshop is Back for Pre-Orders Next Week with Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm, and More

After a few weeks of no new pre-orders, Games Workshop is back with a pretty packed week of new releases. You’ll be able to pre-order all of the below starting next Saturday!

Necromunda gets a new boxed set with Necromunda: Hive War. The new set has everything you need to play and a perfect way for new players to get into the game. The set comes with two gangs, Escher and Delaque with 10 plastic miniatures for each gang and a variety of weapons to arm them.

Also included is a 10-page softback rulebook which includes everything you need to play from how to generate gangs, to the rules, scenarios, and more.

There’s also modular scenary with which you can use to do battle as well as a double-sided gaming mat, dice, tokens, cards, and templates.

Also coming is a Necromunda Underhive Propaganda Transfer Sheet that features 499 decals that you can use to help make your scenery unique and add finishing touches to your own Underhive.

You’ll need to upgrade your gangs which means the need for new weapons. The Weapons & Upgrades Sets has you covered with over 60 alternative components to make your gang even more unique. Two will be released, one for Escher and one for the Goliaths. They include different heads, weapons, and more.

Blood Bowl is getting some love with new releases as well for the Chaos Chosen.

You can get a set of pitch and dugouts for the Chaos Chosen so you can play Blood Bowl honoring the Dark Gods.

You’ll be able to better keep track of your team with the Chaos Chosen Card Pack which is a handy reference. It also includes 20 blank cards to keep track of your team as it develops as well as Special Play cards exclusive to Chaos Chosen teams.

Finally, show your allegiance to the Chaos Gods with the Chaos Chosen Team Dice Pack.

Warhammer Underworlds gets two releases to expand your games with.

Hedkrakka’s Madmob is a new warband of four feral Orruks led by a mask-wearing Shaman. They’re an aggressive warband sure to mix games up and deliver new elements to the Underworlds.

Warhammer Underworlds: Silent Menace Universal Deck is an expansion perfect for every warband. It offers new card options and a greater variety of deckbuilding combos. The release features 32 cards – 12 objectives, 10 gambits, and 10 upgrades. They’re all themed around the treasures and tactics of Beastgrave’s Silent People. The set doesn’t include any spells meaning you don’t need a wizard to get everything out of it.

Black Library has a bunch of releases coming too.

Warriors and Warlords is available in paperback and is a collection of short stories set in the world of Warhammer 40,000. It includes stories by Rachel Harrison, Graham McNeill, and Chris Wraight.

The Sisters of Battle Collection brings together works by James Swallow. It includes his full collection of novels and short stories focused on the Sisters of Battle in a limited edition release that features two hardbacks. It includes five tales – Faith & Fire, Hammer & Anvil, Red & Black, and Heart & Soul, as well as a brand new story, Iron & Bone.

Sisters of Battle: The Book of Martyrs has more adventures focused on the Adepta Sororitas. It has three action-packed stories by Danie Ware, Alec Worley, and Phil Kelly.
