IDW Publishing Announces a New Dungeons & Dragons Comic Series

Break out your 20-sided die and prepare to get spellcasting! Dungeons & Dragons returns to comics this April with more adventures starring the Baldur’s Gate heroes from series past. Fan favorite writer Jim Zub is back to weave another tale and he’s joined by a top-notch stable of artists including Dean KotzSteven CummingsHarvey TolibaoRamon Bachs, and Francesco Mortarino. Rounding out the stellar art team is Max Dunbar who returns to the world of D&D to provide covers.

Each artist will tackle an issue of the series which will focus on an individual hero from our band of adventurers to explore what makes them tick, making Dungeons & Dragons: Evil at Baldur’s Gate the most character-centric series of D&D to date.

The Baldur’s Gate heroes return to the city at last, but their time adventuring in Ravenloft and the frozen northern reaches of the Realms has changed them. Each of them must face great trials ahead before they’ll be ready to embrace their destiny. Minsc, Krydle & Shandie, Delina, Nerys Kathon, and Boo will all take center stage throughout this series. While it does continue Zub’s run on D&D, each story is self-contained and so fans can jump on board anywhere and introduce themselves to this beloved cast of characters.

Dungeons & Dragons: Evil at Baldur’s Gate arrives this April and is guaranteed to feature a miniature giant space hamster (in case you were wondering)!

Dragon Ball Z: Perfect Cell

Christopher Bryan (d)

The Cell Games are on, and the world’s greatest fighters have gathered to see if they have what it takes to defeat the perfect warrior. Teaming up to take him down, Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Krillin, Trunks, and Piccolo must strategize together in order to stop the supposedly unstoppable machine.

In Dragon Ball Z: Perfect Cell, 1 to 4 players will each take control of an iconic Dragon Ball Z fighter and roll their dice to generate energy. Using custom icons, players allocate their dice into performing attacks, helping other players, or buying upgrades. Players need to work together though, as Cell will continue to generate new threats that can heal him, damage all players, or lock players out of potentially game-changing upgrades.

While Agent Scully urged him to tell a story that the panel would accept, Mulder’s need to believe is just too great.

In The X-Files: Conspiracy Theory—Everything Is Connected players take turns as Fox Mulder, as he uses the provided clues to explain his conspiracy theory to his FBI superiors. But reputation is everything at the FBI, and Mulder’s superiors are more interested in voting with the room rather than their gut. Mulder weaves together the conspiracy, and the superiors must deduce the way the rest of the room will vote… because the only thing worse than being an outlier is being a conspiracy theorist like Fox Mulder.

3 – 8+ players • Playable from ages 16+ • 20 – 60 minutes • MSRP $29.99 • UPC: 8-27714-01497-6

Grab the Treasure! Get an Exclusive Munchkin Card in Every First-Print Copy of the New Comic Series

Kick open the door! Kill the monster! Steal the treasure! The world of Munchkin is coming to comics! BOOM! Box, an imprint of BOOM! Studios, will debut of the new ongoing series Munchkin, based on the best-selling card game about dungeon adventure created by Steve Jackson Games in January. Every first-printing copy of the comic will include a brand-new exclusive card that can be used in the game!

Writers Tom Siddell, Jim Zub, and John Kovalic, who is also the official artist of the game and illustrates his own stories in the comics, along with artists Mike Holmes and Rian Sygh, translate the world of Munchkin into an adventure series where readers can join the power-hungry, emotional, and untrustworthy group as they continue the satirical battles made famous through the card game.

Based on the immensely popular card game, the Munchkin comic series takes place in a very flexible mashup of genres. Originally a satire of fantasy roleplaying, the game has since then taken on non-fantasy and non-gaming elements, and the new comic series builds on that. Munchkin #1 features four stories set in and around the world of the game, featuring Spyke and the other characters, monsters, and weapons that players have come to love.

Munchkin #1 arrives in comic shops from BOOM! Box on January 28th with a cover price of $3.99 under Diamond order code NOV141115. Every copy of the first printing includes an exclusive brand-new Munchkin card able to be used in the game. The main cover is illustrated by Ian McGinty, with a 1-in-99 “Jackpot” variant cover by Evan Palmer, a 10 Years Anniversary incentive cover by Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb, and a retailer incentive cover by John Kovalic. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is January 5th.
