Games Workshop reveals new translucent kits for the Armies of the Dead for the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game

Games Workshop has two reveals today for the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game and one has some big implications, opening up a lot of possibilities.

The Warriors of the Dead isn’t the first time GW has released clear resin figures, but it is the first that won’t be super difficult to get. This new set won’t replace existing miniatures, making them perfect to add throughout your Army of the Dead. The “clear” plastic has a spectral blue tint to them, so you can use them as is or drybrush them a bit with dusty whites and rusty metals.

Also coming is a new box set of scenery. The Osgiliath – the Ruins of the City of Gondor set collects the incredibly modular Gondor Mansion, Ruins, and Tower kits into one packed box.

Tales From the Lone-Lands for The One Ring RPG Announced

The One Ring RPG: Tales From the Lone-Lands

Delve deeper into Middle-earth. Free League Publishing has announced Tales From the Lone-Landsthe second expansion for the multiple award-winning 2nd edition of The One Ring Roleplaying Game, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

The expansion is a beautifully illustrated hardback compendium containing six brand-new adventures. All are set in the lone-lands of north-western Middle-earth and the adventures can be played individually, or as part of a larger tale.

The One Ring RPG: Tales From the Lone-Lands includes:

  • A Troll-Hole, If Ever There Was One and Kings of Little Kingdoms are relatively self-contained adventures, but still hint at a growing danger.
  • Messing About In Boats involves directly one member of the Company, in an unexpected way!
  • Not To Strike Without Need and Wonder of the Northern World follow the slow infiltration of spies of the Enemy.
  • The Quest of Amon Guruthos challenges the heroes to battle an ancient evil.

All the adventures in the Tales of From the Lone-Lands expansion assume that the time frame is the same as the one in The One Ring RPG — the years around 2965.

TALES FROM THE LOOP – THE BOARD GAME

Release Date: February 8

The narrative art books Tales From the Loop and Things From the Flood, published by Free League, stunned the world with a vision of an alternate Scandinavia in the 1980s and ‘90s, where technology invaded tranquil landscapes to form an entirely new universe of the eerie and the nostalgic.

In 2017, Free League published the tabletop roleplaying game Tales From the Loop, which was a smash hit and went on to win five Gold ENNIE Awards, including Best Game and Product of the Year. The tv series adaptation of Tales From the Loop has launched Amazon Prime Video. Now the time has come to return to The Loop in the upcoming board game.

NECA/WizKids Announce New Puzzle Strategy Game, Connect With Pieces

NECA/WizKids is taking puzzle gaming to a new level, announcing Connect With Pieces, an upcoming puzzle building platform and game combining strategy and challenge designed by Joel Weinshanker, president and COO at NECA and board game designer Mike Elliott.

Unlike traditional puzzle games, in Connect With Pieces there is more than one way to play for a varied experience. While the ultimate goal is to match all puzzle pieces in a way that garners the most points, Connect With Pieces requires strategy as each piece has five possible combinations, with most fitting in more than one location on the board.

For an added challenge, each piece is embossed with one of five special symbols, that when placed in a particular pattern will earn players bonus points or allow them to block opponents.

Connect With Pieces, available now nationwide MSRP $12.99 USD, is designed for all ages and incorporates themes from several popular franchises, including a Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Twilight edition available at launch.

Coinciding with the announcement, NECA/WizKids has also revealed an upcoming Connect With Pieces application for iPad, coming soon.
