Stormslayer
Stormslayers are massive creatures created from the same stock as trolls, but exposure to the Nexus of Power drove them to a rage-fuelled frenzy. Each has a pair of great falchions, with which they could control the lightning that might otherwise consume them. In battle, the Stormslayers are driven by pain-fuelled rage, and with each sweep of their falchions the foe are smote with the very force of the storm.
Thunderseers
The Thunderseers are abominations, crafted from cyclopes, their souls fragmented by exposure to the Nexus. They are tortured creatures, driven almost to the brink of madness by their gift of foresight.
Stormcaller on Manticore
Stormcallers act as messengers and emissaries, often delivering the orders of the High Marshalls or even one of the Wicked Ones directly from the Abyss to the field of battle.
Riftforged Orcs Regiment
Infused with the power of Halpi’s Rift, the Riftforged orcs are a breed apart from their green-skinned cousins. Though hunched, they stand as tall as a man, but are considerably broader and well-muscled. Their faces are bestial, with jutting lower jaws and sharp teeth, but these are creatures of brutal intelligence.
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise but Mantic Games has announced they’ll be ending new releases and support for The Walking Dead Miniatures Game.
Launched in 2016, over five years the game publisher has released seven waves of story arc for the game taking players from Atlanta to the Prison, meeting The Governor and Negan, and up to the Whisperers. It also featured spin-offs like the Here’s Negan board game, and Call to Arms which expanded it to more of a skirmish game.
But, with the comic no longer being published there’s not much more that can be released and such things have been decided that it should wind down.
Gamers will have until March 31st to grab items that will be discounted by 25% by using the code TWD2022 from the Mantic website. If something is out of stock, Mantic asks for those interested to add it to their wishlist to let them know the demand.
There’s a vibrant community around the game that is sure to keep it going in some form with homebrewed rules.
Time is ticking down though, so if you need to complete your collection or have always wanted to get the game, now’s your last chance!
To kick off the year, Mantic Games has teased some of what we can expect in 2022 and that includes a game based on the comic series The Umbrella Academy! The Umbrella Academy: The Board Game was teased in 2019 but it looks like we’re finally going to get it.
Alessio Cavatore and River Horse Games are working with Mantic to design the game. Cavatore designed the rules for Mantic’s Kings of War.
Umbrella Academy: The Board Game is based on the comic series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá and published by Dark Horse Comics which has been adapted into a television series for Netflix.
In the game, you’re tasked with stopping the apocalypse. You’ll need to work together to defeat hazards that threaten to destroy locations across the city. If too many are, it’s game over.
The co-operative game is for 1-5 players and combines cards and miniatures. The game will include detailed plastic minis of iconic characters like Space Boy, Kraken, Rumor, Séance, and Number Five.
The last Armada fleet has arrived in stores! The elves are one of the greatest seafaring races of Pannithor. Their sleek ships cut through the waves and their bolt throwers cut through enemy sails.
You can order your forces now!
ELF STARTER FLEET
It is said that the elves first learned their modern ship-building techniques from the Celestians, but had explored much of the known world before the other races had dared leave the safety of their coastal waters. Elf warships are equipped primarily with bristling ranks of bolt-throwers, whose enchanted ammunition can pierce the hulls of even a dwarf ironclad. Out of necessity, however, the larger vessels also carry some cannon upon their lower gundecks.
Over the millennia, elven ships have changed very little in their design and construction – a testament to the incredible seafaring knowledge possessed by the forebears of the Sea Kindreds. In the groves behind Therennia Adar, warship parts are painstakingly crafted beneath impossibly high forest canopies.
Developed from the Stormcaller trimarans with which the elves first conquered half the world’s oceans, Valandors are triple-hulled, lateen-sailed warships, whose size belies their staggering speed and manoeuvrability.
The importance of air support has been at the forefront of naval warfare since the earliest days, when the elves first encountered hostile fleets upon the oceans. It was in battle with their age-old rivals the dwarfs that the elves, led by Aethmar, the Prince of Fathoms, first unleashed a flight of drakon riders upon the unsuspecting foe. The elves still continue their ages-long tradition of riding to war on fierce drakons, the smaller cousins of the majestic dragons.
The graceful Aeronauts are a sight to behold, flying in their hot air balloons. Staying high overhead and dropping bombs onto the hapless enemies below, their mere presence in the sky can be as much of a psychological threat as a physical one.
Cunning halflings soon realised that there’s a good degree of safety to be had by riding on the back of a hungry killing machine where the enemy can’t reach you, but you can point a very large gun at them if they get too close.
Like all armies, the halflings have some commanders, champions and individuals that play unique and crucial roles in keeping the army organised, outwitting the enemy, or just throwing in a lethal surprise.
This bumper edition of Mantic’s annual Kings of War update introduces two brand new army lists, a campaign with new scenarios, and a raft of new background information, new maps and artwork. Mantic Games, Dark Horse Comics, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola to bring Hellboy: The Board Gameback to Kickstarter. This latest campaign will complete the current board game story arc and launch some exciting new additions to the franchise, including Hellboy: The Dice Game, which is a whole new way to explore the rich Hellboy universe.
In this Kickstarter, fans can complete the storyline in Hellboy: The Board Game with the Storm and the Furyexpansion. Inspired by the graphic novel, in this epic conclusion to the saga, Hellboy will face his toughest foe yet: Nimue in her dragon form! This is not an experience for the faint of heart and features the biggest miniature Mantic has produced for Hellboy: The Board Game.
With the story complete, it’s time to move onto a whole new chapter. The Pandemonium, Hell on Earth, and End of Days expansions take their inspiration from the dramatic B.P.R.D. comics. With these new additions to the game, players can add new playable agents, new cinematic boss encounters, and vicious minions to their Case Files. Designed by original developers, Needy Cat Games, each of these expansions builds on the tension-packed co-operative experience of Hellboy: The Board Game but turns the danger up to 11, thanks to the all-new RAGNAROK mode. That’s right, saving the world just got a whole lot tougher.
But that’s not all! As part of this Kickstarter Mantic Games will also be funding the creation of Hellboy: The Dice Game. Created by Mantic Games, Hellboy: The Dice Game is a pick-up-and-play Hellboy experience for the whole family. In this push-your-luck game, you’ll have to decide when to take risks or play it safe, as you explore a mysterious location and encounter some of Hellboy’s most notorious foes.
Hellboy: The Board Game is a co-operative experience in which players face off against some of the comic’s most famous foes. Up to four people take control of iconic B.R.P.D. members––Hellboy, Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman, and Johann Kraus––before exploring gothic locations, uncovering ancient artefacts, and battling one of Hellboy’s most notorious foes, Rasputin! After launching in April 2019, the game is now available in multiple languages and has been reprinted several times after selling out worldwide.
