It’s a Packed Pre-Order Release Week with Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Underworlds, Blood Bowl, and Lord of the Rings

Games Workshop has taken a few weeks off for new releases but are back with a week packed with releases that will make the wallet hurt. Check out below for everything you can get starting today.

Expand your Drukhari and Adepta Sororitas with the Piety and Pain box. The campaign box features both armies along with a 32-page campaign book featuring datasheets, missions, Crusade rules, and Theatre of War rules for urban areas.

The Adepta Sororitas army includes five heavy-weapon toting Retributors with a pair of Armorium Cherubs, a heavily armoured Immolator, and a Palatine – a new hero with head and weapons options.

The Drukhari force is a swift Wych Cult warband led by the legendary duellist Lelith Hesperax. The stunning new plastic model of this beloved character is joined by ten Wyches, five winged Scourges, and a Venom.

You’ll be able to take advantage of the new codex for the Drukhari which allows you to use your Kabals, Wych Cults, and Haemoculus Covens. It’s everything you need to play. It comes in a regular and collector’s edition.

Expand your forces with the Combat Patrol: Drukhari. The box set features 18 plastic models that’s themed around the Kabals. It features an Archon leading 10 Kabalite Warriors and five Incubi into battle with a Raider and Ravager.

Also out for Warhammer 40,000 is The Book of Rust, the first act in the War Zone Charadon series.

This campaign book tells the story of the Death Guard invasion of the Charadon sector, home to the vital forge world Metalica. Led by Typhus himself, the followers of Nurgle swarm across the sector, with the Imperium’s defenders standing against them and the piratical Drukhari taking advantage of the anarchy to plunder and pillage.

It features three codex supplements, three armies of Renown, and help to bring together games in a narrative. There’s a regular and collector’s edition.

The Book of Rust

Crusade Mission Pack: Plague Purge adds rules for Crusade games. Designed to work with the rules in The Book of Rust, this expansion includes 24 Crusade missions – six for each game size – along with rules for playing Plague Purge Crusades and a suite of Agendas, Requisitions, and Stratagems. It also includes the basic rules for Warhammer 40,000, making it a handy reference guide while you play.

The Seraphon debuts in Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm with the Starblood Stalkers. The warband mixes strong and agile fighters.

Merry and Pippin and Treebeard enter the battle for the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game. It’s the largest kit for the game in years.

Black Library also has a lot of releases for those who want to spend some time reading. Dan Abnett‘s Ravenor Returned gets a limited edition release. Today’s Forge World release is the Gunbad War Bats for the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game. The set features two resin miniatures, each with a 40mm round base. You can find the rules for the War Bats in the Armies of the Hobbit book.

Dwelling in the northern fortress of Gundabad, these bats have been bred solely for war. Flying ahead of Bolg’s army, the War Bats are the first of Bolg’s reinforcements to reach the Battle of the Five Armies. Razor-sharp talons pluck warriors from the field of battle, piercing armour and tearing flesh as they fling their prey to the ground.

Games Workshop Reveals Army Boxes, Blood Angels, and More for Next Week’s Pre-Orders

Next weekend Games Workshop gets loaded up for the holidays with the release of a new codex for Warhammer 40K and army boxes for 40K and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Check out below what you’ll be able to pre-order starting Saturday, November 28.

Fall into the red thirst with the new codex for the Blood Angels. The sons of Sanguinius get the spotlight with a new book covering their history, heraldry, and specialized units. There are unique rules for the Blood Angels and their successor Chapters. The codex has a regular and limited edition.

You’ll be able to show off your devotion to the army with datacards and dice. The Blood Angels Datacards help keep track of Strategems, psychic powers, and new Death Visions. You’ll also be able to deal some damage with new red and black Blood Angels dice that fit the army featuring blood drops!

But you’ll need a force to do battle with and Games Workshop has you covered with all new models!

Build a force quickly with Combat Patrol: Blood Angels. The box features some core troops and a Librarian to lead them, an Impulsor, and a pair of Blood Angels upgrade frames.

But, what’s a Blood Angels force without the Death Company?! You’ll be able to get Death Company Intercessors to strike terror in your opponents. The kit features five Intercessors and a Blood Angels upgrade frame.

But, it’s not just Blood Angels in the spotlight, Space Marines as a whole get some reinforcements.

You’ll be able to get Assault Intercessors to add to your force. The multipart kit contains loads of new weapon options and poses including several options to equip your Sergeant. There’s enough to build a full squad of 10.

The Primaris Space Marines also get their first main battle tank in the Gladiator. With it you’ll be able to build the Valiant, Reaper, or Lancer tanks!


Army boxes are an easy way to build your forces and Games Workshop is releasing a handful for both Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

For Age of Sigmar, you’ll be able to get:

  • Disciples of Tzeentch – Fatesworn Host – Massed mortal infantry supported by a greater daemon of Tzeentch
  • Kharadron Overlords – Barak-Nar Skyfleet – Plunder the realms and turn a tidy profit with this airborne force of Kharadron Overlords, led by none other than Lord-Magnate Brokk Grungsson.
  • Gloomspite Gitz – Fungal Loonhorde – Loads of troggoths and loads of squigs, a mix of heavy-hitters and cheap-and-cheerful infantry
  • Ogor Mawtribes – Meatgrinder Warglutt – An army of ogors is ready to devour the realms, led by a Tyrant and supported by an Aleguzzler Gargant!

You can also start a whole new force or bolster an existing one with these Warhammer 40,000 army boxes:

  • Space Marines – Interdiction Force – A highly mobile force of Vanguard units, including an Impulsor and an Invictor Tactical Warsuit, plus all the Phobos armor
  • Necrons – Eradication Legion – A great way to expand on the contents of the Indomitus box or any of the starter sets, and it includes an imposing Triarch Stalker and a swift and deadly Doom Scythe!

Black Library has you covered with Guy Haley‘s Astorath: Angel of Mercy which will be available as a hardback limited edition. The release is limited to 1,250 copies and it’s signed by the author. The book also contains Haley’s short story, “The Redeemer”.

This collection includes a novella, plus more than a dozen short stories that explore many of the factions across the galaxy.
