Classic RPGs ‘Baldur’s Gate I & II,’ ‘Planescape: Torment’ & ‘Icewind Dale’ Out Now on Consoles

Skybound Games and Beamdog have announced that enhanced editions of several classic Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing videogames – including Baldur’s Gate, the Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion, Baldur’s Gate IIPlanescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale – are now available on modern consoles for the very first time. Available globally, these boxed versions can be purchased at major retailers for $49.99 each on the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch:

Gen Con 2018: Asmodee Reveals New Digital Games including Gloomhaven!

Asmodee Digital announced at their Gen Con press conference that Gloomhaven is in development and scheduled to launch on Steam Early Access in Q1 2019. Alongside Gloomhaven, Asmodee Digital provided updates on some of the most anticipated games in their digital catalogue including Five Tribes, Bang!, Onitama, Munchkin, The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game, and Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace, and also console games with the famous Ticket to Ride on Playlink for PS4 and Carcassonne on Nintendo Switch.

Developed by Flaming Fowl Studios, Gloomhaven is a dungeon-crawling RPG featuring tactical turn-based combat, and for the first time, an infinitely replayable roguelike mode that will be available during Early Access launch and beyond. Set in a medieval fantasy world, players will struggle to survive through procedurally generated dungeons filled with deadly enemies, equipment to find, and powerful abilities to unlock, with much more in the works for the full launch.

Designed by Isaac Childres, the Gloomhaven board game launched in 2017, raising $4.4 million between two successful Kickstarter campaigns. Since launch, Gloomhaven has received extremely positive reviews from critics and has been rated the “No. 1 Board Game Of All Time” by BoardGameGeek where it also won six Golden Geek Awards.

Asmodee Roles the Dice on Digital as Carcassone Heads to Nintendo Switch

Board games are a booming business and it should be no surprise that board game publishers are trying to get a piece of the digital by porting over games to popular platforms.

Asmodee Digital has announced that they will be publishing digital versions of their board games on the Nintendo Switch and will be starting with the tile-laying board game Carcassone. The game is already available for Android, PC, and Mac.

In the game players take turns laying tiles and determining where to place their meeples to score points.

The game is expected to be released in the winter of 2018.

Asmodee Digital has 50 people, mostly in Paris and California. The company is a subsidiary of Asmodee Group, which is mostly owned by private equity firm Eurazeo.
