Head to Alluvion with the Starfinder Adventure Path: Drift Hackers Vol. 1 A Light in the Dark

The Drift Crisis continues! In crumbling Alluvion, the goddess Triune’s city domain within the Drift, the heroes are thrust into the center of tensions between anxious factions at the heart of the Drift Crisis catastrophe! By agreeing to aid a desperate android priest of Casandalee, the heroes can start to help healing these divides. But first, they must curry the favor of a community of ysoki scrappers outside of the Dark, a neighborhood where technology doesn’t work that hasn’t been touched by light for decades. Exploring those murky streets, they confront undead menaces and otherworldly spirits of hatred and anger, eventually restoring light and power to the cursed region, and shining further illumination as to the origin of the Drift Crisis!

“A Light in the Dark” is a Starfinder adventure for four 7th-level characters, launching the 3-volume Drift Hackers Adventure Path. Drift Hackers is the exciting conclusion of the Drift Crisis, an event taking place across the entire Starfinder game line, in which faster-than-light travel breaks down and the galaxy is thrown into chaos. In addition to the adventure itself, this book includes a player’s guide filled with character creation advice and new gear designed just for Drift Hackers players, along with an Adventure Toolbox filled with new rule options and strange alien creatures.

Roll20

Roll20 and Paizo Inc. have announced they’ve reached an agreement to support Pathfinder Infinite community content officially on the Roll20 virtual tabletop.

Pathfinder Infinite launched in 2021, allowing fans of the Pathfinder and Starfinder roleplaying games to publish their own adventures and game supplements for other fans of the games.

With this new agreement regarding Pathfinder Infinite, community creators will be able to convert or create content for play on the Roll20 virtual tabletop. Starting in February, they will be able to sell that content directly on the Pathfinder Infinite site so that it unlocks for users on Roll20, providing additional value for both creators and fans on both platforms. Creators can begin preparing content on Roll20 now in anticipation of the February launch.

Earlier this year, Roll20 and OneBookShelf announced their new joint venture, and since October of this year, both companies have been operating as one. The Roll20 virtual tabletop provides a full suite of easy-to-use digital tools so players can build characters and run campaigns seamlessly through their web browser. Through its family of premiere online marketplaces, Roll20 has been selling digital and print-on-demand roleplaying games, war games, comic books, and fiction since 2001.

The Dead are Rising in Pathfinder: Book of the Dead

A massive bestiary section full of undead creatures brings more threats for GMs and summonable creatures for players, including more versions of classic undead like vampires, skeletons, and zombies. This book also includes “March of the Dead,” a grim and dangerous adventure themed around an undead uprising!

Paizo Recognizes the United Paizo Workers

In what is a victory for union organizing, Paizo has announced that it has voluntarily recognized the United Paizo Workers union, which is affiliated with the Communications Workers of America (CWA).

In the announcement, Jeff Alvarez, President of Paizo said:

We look forward to working with the union to continue and expand our efforts to make Paizo a better place to work and to ensure that Pathfinder and Starfinder products continue to exceed gamer expectations for many years to come.

The next steps will involve the United Paizo Workers (UPW) union electing their bargaining representatives and then meeting with Paizo management to negotiate terms for a collective bargaining agreement. This process can take some time, but Paizo has said they are committed to the effort and hope to settle a contract in due course.

In the press announcement, Paizo event went so far to encourage following the UPW on Twitter for future updates!

The UPW made its intentions known a week ago today laying out the reasons for their organizing. You can read more about that here. With lots of chatter about working conditions within the game industry, is this the beginning of a broader movement?

Paizo Staff Launch United Paizo Workers to Unionize

United Paizo Workers

Announced in a series of tweets, over 30 members of the Paizo Publishing staff have formed United Paizo Workers (UPW). The movement is one of the first unions of its kind in the tabletop game industry. This is the first step to invoke a vote to form a union at the company. The organization is working with the Communications Workers of America (CWA).

Paizo is the game publishing company behind roleplaying games such as Pathfinder and Starfinder. The UPW has stated that Paizo’s workers are underpaid for their labor and are required to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. There have also been claims of issues with management at the company including inconsistent hiring practices, pay inequity, harassment, and verbal abuse.

While changes have been promised by the executive team at Paizo, the UPW sees that collective action is the only way to guarantee that.

You can learn more at the UPW website which also has suggestions on how individuals can show their support.

A New Pathfinder Comic Comes to Kickstarter!

Dynamite Entertainment and Paizo Inc. are launching a new Pathfinder comic book. It’s currently being funded on Kickstarter and live right now with lots of cool extra content for fans!

Pathfinder: Fumbus is a 40-page standalone special issue starring the riotous eponymous goblin alchemist. The mischievous goblins of Pathfinder have always been one of the iconic roleplaying game’s most signature features, but now with the new Second Edition ruleset and the added alchemist class, Fumbus takes a starring role in his pursuit to join the Pathfinder Society. With appearances from characters like Seoni, Ezren, and more, it’s a chapter not to be missed!

Writer and lifelong tabletop RPG addict Fred Van Lente has worked closely with Paizo’s creative shepherds to craft this tale alongside returning Pathfinder artist Tom Garcia. They’re joined by the vivid colors of Vinicius Townsend, and lettering of Tom Napolitano.

Just like Dynamite’s previous Pathfinder titles, this comic book comes with extra content that will entice longtime fans of the RPG, with lore and scenario writing that can translate right to one’s next game night. Six whole pages of playable content, including new alchemical and magic items, rules for trapmaking, and a character sheet and stat block for Fumbus himself.

Those same great qualities make the world a perfect fit for comics books. Dynamite has worked closely with Paizo to produce comics for nearly a decade across 11 graphic novels. Many of Paizo’s top internal creatives like Erik Mona and F. Wesley Schneider have contributed to the titles, as well as top creators in the comics industry like Jim Zub (Avengers, Conan the Barbarian), Crystal Frasier (Immortal Hulk, Cheer Up), and Carlos Gomez (Red Sonja, America Chavez). As part of the Kickstarter pledge options, fans can stock up on the previous comics as well.

For collectors, Dynamite is offering a fun glow in the dark version of Tom Garcia’s cover, as well as a limited character sheet variant. Fan-favorite artist Ken Haeser is also doing sketch covers and remark sketches. Those looking for the ultimate Pathfinder haul can turn to the deluxe set, which comes packed with an exclusive custom D20 die, CGC graded copies of the comics, a character trading card, a set of graphic novels, and the gorgeous Seoni statue.
