The Old Dominion gets a Founder’s Exclusive and it’s Heavy Metal!

Para Bellum Wargames, the developer and publisher of the fantasy Regimental Miniature Wargame Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings and Skirmish system Conquest: First Blood, has revealed the next release in their limited edition “Founder’s Exclusive” series. Sporting four, highly detailed Resin Miniatures, set on a specially made scenic diorama base, “Heavy Metal” delivers on the promise of its name. With a thematic representation of a Strategos character, standing imposingly over the field of battle, surrounded by his Retinue of companions and clad in the wicked elegance of the Old Dominion aesthetics, the “Heavy Metal” diorama is as refined as it is imposing.

Heavy Metal is bringing to the field an Old Dominion Strategos, clad in the full might of the Dominion’s Regalia, with three Retinue characters bearing his arms and banner. As ever in the dioramas of Conquest, the individual raisin characters are set on their own base, ready to be moved and fielded when the time for battle comes, while perfectly resting in their diorama base when one wants to simply show off their forces. Be it for hobby or play, Heavy Metal promises to draw the eyes of enthusiasts and gamers alike!

The Founder’s Exclusive models are designed by the creative direction of the founder, Stavros, and fill a space in the Conquest world of unique pieces that can be used in the game, while also being fantastical models for any fan of miniatures. Each one is a limited, numbered edition.

Releasing in January of 2023 and sequentially numbered to seven hundred and fifty (750), seven hundred (700) of the pieces will be available for sale. The other fifty (50) will be offered as prize support in 2023, making them a spectacular prize in every collection or on any table –  124.99 USD/EU!

The Resin Beast Returns for Adepticon for 2023

The Resin Beast Miniature Painting Competition returns to Adepticon for 2023! The biggest miniature painting competition is coming to Adepticon! Creature Caster and Para Bellum Games have announced the return of the Resin Beast Painting Competition for 2023. By partnering, this will the biggest Resin Beast ever, and one of the biggest miniature painting competitions that the world has ever seen! Resin Beast features a massive prize pool of approximately US$14,000 over many different categories of prizes.

Para Bellum and Creature Caster encourage Painters and Hobbyists of all skill levels to participate. There will be adventures for everyone! This will be the most engaging and innovative miniature painting competition the world has ever seen. In order to achieve these lofty goals the incredible team at Creature Caster is joining forces with the maker of Conquest, Para Bellum Games, to host this event. This partnership will truly take the Resin Beast to a whole new level.

The Resin Beast competition will be themed around a dungeon crawl where all participants will join as adventurers to struggle together against the Resin Beast itself. It is a competition, with impressive prizes on the line, and we also want to make sure that all skill levels can participate and have lighthearted fun.

More details will be released in the coming weeks, a monstrous compendium of all you need to defeat this mighty foe, but for now, this is what you need to know to get started:

  • Adventurers must travel to Adepticon 2023, to enter the lair of the Resin Beast. This event occurs on March 22nd – 26th in the land known as Chicago. (Options for others to travel on your behalf will exist if it is not possible for entrants to embark on the quest – details on this to follow).
  • The Resin Beast has gathered approximately US$14,000 into its lair, along with some incredible trophies and other worldly goods that will not be available in any other channel for these winners.
  • Para Bellum and Creature Caster models only may be entered for competition.
  • You can choose to enter as many categories as you would like, but you may only enter each category once (there are 5 categories for which you can submit 5 possible entries). Each entry can only be placed in one Category (an entry cannot be in unit and a diorama, for example).
  • A similar Judging system as past years will be used, but with some adjustments and improvements for 2023.

Adventurers can only carry two treasures in their packs. This means you can only place in a maximum of two categories and then you must let someone else get some loot!

For Grand Recognition, the title “Beast Slayer” will be rewarded to one brave adventurer. This coveted title represents striking a mortal blow against the Resin Beast itself. While any such adventurer will find riches and glory in such a feat, there is also a terrible burden placed upon them, for the Resin Beast never truly dies, and will no doubt seek revenge.

For a shot at the “Beast Slayer” title, an adventurer must have a minimum of two separate entries in two of the above categories. One of these entries must feature a Creature Caster model, and the other a model from Para Bellum Games. Whichever adventurer has the highest combined score from their two entries will truly have shown their mastery of painting.

The Resin Beast Categories for Placement are:

Large Model:

  • Models that were sold with a base size of at least 90mm or are over 20cm in height (bottom of foot to highest point of the model).
  • Maximum dimensions of 175x175mm square of 175mm round with a maximum height of 410mm.

Mid-Size Model:

  • Maximum dimension of 100x100mm square or 100mm round with a maximum height of 300mm.

  • Entry must be on a minimum of a 100mm round base up to a maximum of 200x200mm square or 200mm round, and with a maximum height of 410mm
  • A Diorama may include a mix and match of models from both companies if desired but the cohesiveness will be considered. Tie break points awarded if done successfully.

Unit or Warband:

  • This is a bit of a tricky one, so please read carefully.
  • Maximum base size for models in the composition is 60mm.
  • Units must be constructed using the following point system:
    • Models sold on a base smaller than 40mm are worth 1 point
    • Models sold on a 40mm – 60mm base are worth 2 points
    • Unit may have multiple base sizes in the unit.
    • Units must not have a value over 12 points or under 6 points.
    • This means that depending on the base size of the models you will have at minimum 3 models and at maximum 12 models.
  • A Unit/Warband may consist of a mix and match of models from both companies if desired, but the cohesiveness will be considered. Tie break points awarded if done successfully.

First Blood! is 2.0 a fully-fledged competitive, skirmish wargame! To do that we focused on the nuances of individual Model positioning and intra-Regiment synergies. The rules now treat individual teams of soldiers as building blocks together which form powerful ad-hoc formations. It is each player’s job to find the weak point in their enemy’s formation and disentangle it through smart maneuvering and intelligent order of play!

The High Clone Executor comes to Para Bellum’s Conquest with an Updated Sculpt

Ignored and often resented, High Clone Executors provide a critical role that not even the most arrogant of the Lineage Highborn can deny: direct battlefield experience and a core of professional officers to lead the troops. While Biomancers and Pheromancers might turn the soldiers into ravening automata and Lineage Highborn might be unstoppable on the field, it is the High Clone Executors who time and again deliver victories across a hundred different battlefields.

In order to advance through the ranks, Executors must have proven and keep proving their ability time and again, both on the field of battle and without. They must secure chances at proving their capacity, provide victory on the battlefield and be able to claim credit for that victory, always vying against backstabbing colleagues, jealous superiors, and ruthlessly demanding masters. The result is that should one encounter a High Clone Executor leading an enemy force, he should know he is facing a ruthlessly competent individual who has no compunctions or limitations on the pursuit of victory.

Conquest’s Old Dominion Wave 3 is here!

The Bone Golems

In their quest for knowledge the Dark Creed uncovered many secrets best left alone. prime among them was the fact that the very stones of Capitas were soaked with so much death and so much of Hazlia’s essence during the Fall that all they need to heed their master’s call to murder the living was a simple motivating consciousness… These massive constructs cause terror on the battlefield, their massive forms soaking unbelievable levels of damage as their massive limbs scythe through enemy formations.

The Bone Golems

Old Dominion: Strategos

A Strategos is the supreme commander of a Dominion Legion, a master of men who commanded the absolute loyalty of his troops, serving as their temporal and spiritual leader while on campaign. His mastery was one of strategy and diplomacy, allowing his officers, the ten Xhiliarchs who served under him to focus on logistics, tactics and the disposition of the troops. Entombed with all the pomp and ceremony one could expect, their awakening into an unlife of service is complete with misery and loss, for unlike the lesser order they not only retain their cognitive function, but memories from before. This makes them a double edged sword for those who would seek to command them: while one of the easiest and most efficient ways to secure the performance and power of an awakened Legion, the Strategoi are no unthinking minions to command. Their cognitive function and memories have allowed them to retain their personalities and with it, ambition.

Old Dominion: Optio

Second in command to the Centarchos, the lowest ranked officer minted by the Collegia of the Old Dominion, the Optio is a stern, experienced veteran whose responsibility it is than an officer’s orders be obeyed… or ignored. When the Imperial Legions were born, veteran commanders quickly realized they needed a link, a lynchpin between the professional officer corps being produced by the Colleges and the veteran legionnaires that formed the backbone of all Legions.

Para Bellum reveals the W’adrhŭn Hunting Pack

Para Bellum Games, publisher of fantasy Mass Combat Miniature Wargame Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings and the Narrative Skirmish ruleset Conquest: First Blood, is unleashing a swarm of miniatures in a single regiment’s release! The W’adrhŭn faction, which tackles the orc archetype in an awe-inspiring dino-riding concept, will see the “Hunting Pack” join their forces, a regiment of multitudes of smaller-sized dinosaurs standing in place of a medium-sized, cavalry regiment. The result is a threatening throng of bloodthirsty little jaws rushing to meet the enemy!

In a stark contrast to other dinosaur releases of the faction, the Hunting Pack proves that not all beasts employed by the W’adrhun are hulking monstrosities that dominate the battlefield. The Hunting Packs of the “uzibukhali” (smart claw) underline just how menacing small critters can be, when what dominates their physique are alarmingly large open jaws. Adding a light, mainstay cavalry unit to the arsenal of W’adrhŭn warlords, while providing a wide canvas to explore different color schemes and variations of a theme to eager hobbyists, the Hunting Pack is bound to bring life to the table and spread fear on the battlefield!

The Hunting is available on Pre-Order and will hit the shelves of your local FLGS in mid June of 2022 with an MSRP of 49.99/47.99 USD/EU. Each box will have 18 plastic dinosaurs, on 3 brute/cavalry bases to create an awesome affect on tables, and create real value for the gamer and hobbyist alike.

The Fallen Divinity comes to Para Bellum’s Artisan Series

Once noble paragons of the Dominion’s Pantheon but long since corrupted by Hazlia’s Fall, Fallen Divinities are quite simply the most dangerous foes mankind has encountered to date. Thankfully, the trauma of the Fall and the valiant efforts of Kleon during the theomachia that followed have crippled and contained the power of these abhorrent beings. This means that they can be opposed by mortal arms for a brief spell, that vulnerable moment between their manifestation before they have had a chance to feast upon the Dark Power released by the destruction of their followers.

This figure was designed by the team at Para Bellum in keeping with their aesthetic, and then sculpted by renowned artist Michael Kontraros. This is a true artisan series miniature, with incredible details that make it a presence on a game table, or as a painted model.

The Fallen Divinity

The Old Dominion get new terrors with the Kataphraktoi and Hierodeacons

Para Bellum Games, the developer and publisher of the fantasy Regimental Miniature Wargame Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings and Skirmish system Conquest: First Blood, is expanding on the entries of “The Old Dominion” – the sixth faction of the fantasy gaming world of Conquest! Buried with their faithful warhorses and all their fabled equipment, the dreaded “Kataphraktoi” (Kat-ah-frac-tee) join the fray, the skeletal bodies of horse and rider clad in full metal panoply; and they are not alone. Heralding the way for the horrors of the Fallen Pantheon, the fanatical evangelists of old divinity walk upon the fields of Conquest once more, as the terrifying Hierodeacons gather their forces to bring their twisted dogmas on the world of the living.

The addition of the Kataphraktoi to the available Old Dominion regiments offers a frightening Medium Cavalry Regiment to their Warlords. With high movement, a good defense and shield, plus their Brutal Impact and their unstoppable charge ability, the Kataphraktoi are not there simply for the aesthetics. The Hierodeacon, on the other hand, not only paves the way for future releases of the dreaded Fallen Pantheon Restricted Regiments, it also offers additional magic power, while being an excellent manager of the Warlord’s Dark Power Token pool, magnifying the effects of the Old Dominion’s special rules!

The Kataphraktoi (SRP 49.99US$/ 47.99 EU/ 80.95 AU$) and the Hierodeacon (SRP 28.99 US$/ 25.99 EU/ 41.95 AU$) are hitting the shelves in May 2022.
