Two Unmatched Sets go into “The Vault” in 2023

Unmatched Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot

Restoration Games has announced that it is placing two sets in its Unmatched line of skirmish games “into the vault”. The two sets — Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot and Cobble & Fog — are expected to go out of print in 2023 and are not slated to be reprinted. The rotation is to make room for five new sets that will be released in 2023 and 2024 which includes an unannounced licensed property.

Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot was released as part of the initial Unmatched offering in 2019 with Battle of Legends, Vol. 1 and the Bruce Lee solo pack. Cobble & Fog was released the following year and remains the highest-rated Unmatched set on Board Game Geek. Both sets enjoyed critical and commercial success, getting second and third printings to meet demand.

Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot and Cobble & Fog join several licensed sets in the vault due to the expiration of the publication rights: Jurassic Park, Deadpool, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Bruce Lee. Jacobson said the company expects to place one to two sets in the vault each year going forward.

Mondo Announces Unmatched: Deadpool

Last year, Mondo and Restoration Games announced an entire Marvel line for Unmatched, the head-to-head miniatures skirmish game system for two to four players. When Deadpool learned of the plans, he decided he needed to be the first hero out of the gate.

Unmatched: Deadpool contains a sculpted hero miniature, health dial, and 31 cards. The expansion can be used with any full set in the Unmatched system; which announced four upcoming sets featuring Marvel heroes earlier this year.

Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs Beowulf is now in stores after time being sold directly from Mondo and Restoration Games. You can now get the game at your friendly local game store and from shops online.

ONCE UPON A TIME, Little Red Riding Hood took her basket of nasty tricks and faced off against the legendary Beowulf in this exciting Unmatched set. Little Red features a clever card-combo mechanism. Matching icons on the cards she plays to the one in her “basket” (discard pile), triggers potent effects. Meanwhile, Beowulf uses rage to power up his cards for devastating attacks.

Unmatched is a miniature board game where you battle it out between characters. Each set is compatable with each other allowing you to mix and match characters and boards and see who’s best in battle!

Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf is a stand alone expansion for the Unmatched system and includes:

  • Unique hero decks featuring the art of Marc Aspinall

Marvel Comes to Mondo and Restoration Games’ Unmatched

Mondo and Restoration Games have teamed up with Marvel to create several additions to their Unmatched line of miniatures dueling tabletop games planned for release beginning in the summer of 2021. Four new sets have been announced:

  • Redemption Row – featuring Luke Cage, Ghost Rider, and Moon Knight
  • Hell’s Kitchen – featuring Daredevil, Elektra, and Bullseye
  • Teen Spirit – featuring Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, and Cloak and Dagger
  • For King and Country – featuring Black Widow, Black Panther, and Winter Soldier

Unmatched veteran artists Heather Vaughan, Oliver Barrett, and Ian O’Toole will be joined by Matt Taylor and Sanford Greene as the key illustrators for the line. The combined weight of their contributions to the worlds of gaming, comics, and entertainment is staggering; fans can expect each standalone title to be as visually impactful as they are mechanically sound. 

Since debuting at Gen Con in August of 2019, Unmatched has released seven titles featuring 19 heroes sourced from myth, literature, television, and movies – presenting players with nearly two hundred possible 2-player battle scenarios. The upcoming Marvel editions will offer 66 possible in-world combat pairings and will feature unique gameplay additions building off the core game ruleset.

Epic heroes from epic tales – Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs Beowulf is available for order today! Restoration Games has announced the latest set in the popular Unmatched tactical skirmish board game: Little Red Riding Hood vs Beowulf.

Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs Beowulf includes the titular heroes taking their combat to the new Heorot battlefield. A clever Little Red can use her basket of goodies to maximize her deck with the support of the Huntsman. Beowulf, with ever-loyal Wiglaf, must use his rage as a tool to bring down his opponent. Battles at Heorot feature an all-new door mechanism.

This set’s cover and card illustrations are done by the incredible Marc Aspinall, who brought the perfect touch of intensity and action to the set. Heorot’s board illustration is by Ian O’Toole, who illustrated the boards for the hit Cobble & Fog set. Miniature sculpts are crafted by Punga Miniatures. Finally, everything is tied together by Visual Restoration Wizard – Jason Taylor, and Production Superhero – Lindsay Daviau.

As always, you can mix and match the characters and battlefield from Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs Beowulf with the heroes and boards from any other set. Can resourceful Little Red defeat the elusive Invisible Man? Will Beowulf take down Sinbad? There’s only one way to find out!

While specifics haven’t been released or announced, it looks like the next expansion for Unmatched has Little Red Riding Hood taking on Beowulf.

Unmatched is Restoration Games and Mondo Games miniature board game where you can pit various characters against each other. Characters released have included Robin Hood, Medussa, Big Foot, the Invisible Man, Sherlock and more. Expansions have been released featuring Bruce Lee and Jurassic Park with the latest being Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yes, Buffy can fight it out with Bruce Lee or Raptors! Six releases have come out for the game so far.

Little is known about the upcoming expansion but based on its title, I think we know who’ll be included. Two figure expansions have retailed for $25 in the past which is what this is listed for on sites such as Gamer Nerdz.
