Asmodee is reshuffling some things within the company with a reorganization of their miniature game development. Atomic Mass Games will now handle the future development of all of Asmodee’s miniature games as a “specialty studio” focused on that space.
This means that numerous games are shifting over to the game developer who has found success with their Marvel: Crisis Protocol Game.
Star Wars: X-Wing, Star Wars: Armada, and Star Wars: Legion are all moving from Fantasy Flight to Atomic Mass.
Simone Elliott, who has shepherded Fantasy Flight’s relationship with Lucasfilm Licensing since 2015, will lead Atomic Mass Games during this time of expansion as Head of Studio. Will Shick assumes primary creative oversight as Head of Product Development. Joining them will be key members of the teams involved in the creation and evolution of Fantasy Flight’s current Star Wars miniatures games, Star Wars X-Wing, Star Wars Legion, and Star Wars Armada.
Fantasy Flight Games has released two new expansions for Star Wars: Legion.
The Rebels are getting some troops with Fleet Troopers. The expansion comes with seven unpainted miniatures and upgrade cards.
The unit gives you options when building your force. This unit is more specialized than Rebel Troopers. They’re trained for close-quarter combat and are armed with the DH-17 blaster which produces a greater volume of fire but a shorter range. You can also arm them with heavier firepower like the MPL-57 grenade launcher or scatter guns to inflict massive damage.
Also revealed is Leia Organa. The release comes with an unpainted miniature as well as upgrade cards.
Leia is a commander of the force and your army can have up to two commanders. She’s dangerous in hand-to-hand combat and accurate with her sporting blaster which is limited in range.
She can also boost your troops with some defensive help. She can remove up to two suppression tokens from friendly units. She also comes with three command cards that reflect strategies and tactics.
Fantasy Flight Games has revealed the Stormtroopers Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion. The release comes with seven unpainted miniatures, along with cards and tokens to play the game. The set will be released along with the core set and seven other expansions.
Two units come with the main cor set but in a corps unit you can include six units of Stormtroopers in your army. They’re low point cost so a cheap way to fill out your army.
A standard unit features four Stormtroopers but you can add more miniatures with upgrade gards. They’re not the most accurate but can reroll an additional die when they use the aim token. Their army does provide defense.
The units have four upgrade slots to make it unique, heavy weapons, personnel, grenades, and gear. That allows you to expand the unit or bring in specialists. This release comes with different grenade and gear options than the core set.
