The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying for 5E is coming May 9

The path to Middle-earth will soon open for new adventurers. Free League Publishing has revealed that the 5E adaptation of the award-winning second edition of The One Ring RPG, entitled The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, will be released May 9. 

The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying is a 236-page beautifully designed and illustrated hardback volume that contains what players need to create 5E adventures set in the world’s most popular fantasy setting: six original heroic cultures from the land of Eriador, six new classes, a host of terrifying adversaries, and comprehensive rules for journeys, councils, wondrous artifacts, and the subtle magic of Middle-earth.

Shire Adventures is a 104-page hardback volume that describes the Shire in great detail, as well as five short adventures and seven pre-generated characters, including famous Bagginses, Tooks, and Brandybucks! The contents of Shire Adventures are adapted from the Starter Set for The One Ring RPG.

A Loremaster’s Screen with a compendium about Rivendell, including a map of the valley and a plan of the house itself, is also available.

The new edition of The One Ring RPG, set in the world of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and designed by Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi, became the most successful tabletop roleplaying core game ever on Kickstarter in March 2021. Now Middle-earth is open for new roleplayers with a brand new 5E adaptation.

Tales From the Lone-Lands for The One Ring RPG Announced

The One Ring RPG: Tales From the Lone-Lands 

Delve deeper into Middle-earth. Free League Publishing has announced Tales From the Lone-Landsthe second expansion for the multiple award-winning 2nd edition of The One Ring Roleplaying Game, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

The expansion is a beautifully illustrated hardback compendium containing six brand-new adventures. All are set in the lone-lands of north-western Middle-earth and the adventures can be played individually, or as part of a larger tale. 

The One Ring RPG: Tales From the Lone-Lands includes:

  • A Troll-Hole, If Ever There Was One and Kings of Little Kingdoms are relatively self-contained adventures, but still hint at a growing danger. 
  • Messing About In Boats involves directly one member of the Company, in an unexpected way! 
  • Not To Strike Without Need and Wonder of the Northern World follow the slow infiltration of spies of the Enemy. 
  • The Quest of Amon Guruthos challenges the heroes to battle an ancient evil. 

All the adventures in the Tales of From the Lone-Lands expansion assume that the time frame is the same as the one in The One Ring RPG — the years around 2965.

In the expansion Ruins of Symbaroum – Call of the Dark, you will find two adventures that in different ways relate to the growing internal divisions within the Ambrian realm.

The adventure Call of the Dark plays out in the northern territories of the Lost Land of Alberetor, where the player characters will accompany a lowborn noble who is looking to prove the status of her family.
The adventure Retribution initially deals with the search for a person who has gone missing in the city of Kurun, but is soon shown to involve events which may have serious consequences for the relationship between the peoples of the Davokar region.

TALES FROM THE LOOP – THE BOARD GAME

In Tales From the Loop – The Board Game, you and your friends play cooperatively to investigate the mysteries originating from the Loop, a huge underground science facility with strange effects on the suburban landscapes around it. 

The upcoming board game is based on the works by the internationally acclaimed visual storyteller Simon Stålenhag. The narrative art books Tales From the Loop and Things From the Flood, published by Free League, stunned the world with a vision of an alternate Scandinavia in the 1980s and ‘90s, where technology invaded tranquil landscapes to form an entirely new universe of the eerie and the nostalgic.

In 2017, Free League published the tabletop roleplaying game Tales From the Loop, which was a smash hit and went on to win five Gold ENNIE Awards, including Best Game and Product of the Year. The tv series adaptation of Tales From the Loop has launched Amazon Prime Video. Now the time has come to return to The Loop in the upcoming board game.

Urban Operations is the first expansion for the new retro-apocalyptic edition of RPG classic Twilight: 2000. It is a modular expansion focused on cities loosely based on the classic module Free City of Krakow – but designed to be used in any city environment. The expansion will include guidelines for playing in cities, new factions, new scenario sites, and introduce several plots to create longer story arcs. The One Ring Kickstarter from Free League Publishing is Live and Funded

The Kickstarter for the new edition of the acclaimed roleplaying game The One Ring, set in the world of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and designed by Francesco Nepitello, has been launched by Free League Publishing. The highly anticipated fantasy game was funded in just 4 minutes.

The new edition for The One Ring roleplaying game, to be published by Free League in partnership with Sophisticated Games, was crowdfunded in only 4 minutes after the launch and has already raised more than $530,000, with 21 days to go.

In the new edition of The One Ring, the year is 2965 of the Third Age, and the players create a Company of heroes seeking adventure in the Lone-lands of Eriador, the region that once saw the glory of the North Kingdom of Arnor.

It is a desolate country, yet it sees the presence of many adventurous folk – Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves and Men. It is here that the One Ring lies, a seed of the past that will one day lead the world to open war against the returning Shadow.

The Enemy is moving, and smoke issues once more from Mount Doom, in the land of Mordor…

For about $36 you can back the project and get the core rules and starter set in a digital format. For $60 you get a hardback edition, the pdf format, stretch goals, and an Alpha pdf version. The campaign ends on March 4 and is expected to ship in November 2021.
