The Pokémon Company International has released the latest expansion for the best-selling Pokémon Trading Card Game, Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest, available starting today at participating retailers around the world.
Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest reveals three new Radiant Pokémon, including Radiant Jirachi and Radiant Alakazam — Shiny Pokémon with powerful Abilities or attacks and illustrated in etched artwork. The new expansion also introduces more Pokémon VSTAR, including Lugia VSTAR, Regidrago VSTAR and Alolan Vulpix VSTAR — the first Pokémon VSTAR in the Pokémon TCG to not be fully evolved.
This expansion also includes 15 Pokémon V, 18 full-art Pokémon V, one Pokémon VMAX, six Pokémon VSTAR and a Trainer Gallery subset of 30 cards with artwork featuring popular Trainers and Pokémon.
Trainers can find Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections at participating retailers.
The Pokémon Company International has revealed more details about the highly anticipated Pokémon Trading Card Game: Pokémon GO expansion, releasing around the world starting on July 1, 2022. The new expansion is a collaboration with the Pokémon GO app. In it, fans will be able to play with cards featuring photorealistic artwork and unique gameplay scenarios inspired by the mobile title.
Certain cards illustrate Pokémon as if they have jumped out into the real world, such as Pikachu walking alongside its Trainer and Snorlax sleeping wherever it pleases, while other cards portray Pokémon in scenes that are familiar to the mobile game, such as Blissey valiantly defending a Gym and Aipom dodging a Poké Ball.
In addition, objects and characters from the world of Pokémon GO will appear as Trainer cards, such as PokéStop as a Stadium card and Lure Module as an Item card, as well as Spark of Team Instinct, Blanche of Team Mystic and Candela of Team Valor as Supporter cards.
The Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO‘s first wave of releases comes to stores on July 1st, with more releases coming at a later date. Select products will feature unique promo cards, including powerful new Pokémon V and Pokémon VSTAR that will be impactful in Pokémon TCG battles.

The Pokémon Company International has released the latest iteration of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy, available at Pokémon Center in the US, Canada and UK, and at participating retailers around the world.
Battle Academy (2022) is an updated board game adaptation of the best-selling Pokémon TCG, which makes it easy and fun for the whole family to learn the classic tabletop game. The new version introduces the Pokémon V gameplay mechanic and an updated lineup of fan-favorite Pokémon, including Pikachu, Eevee and Cinderace. Each Battle Academy (2022) product comes with everything needed to master the basics of the Pokémon TCG — including a two-player game board, three 60-card decks, tutorial guides and gameplay accessories — making it an ideal activity for family and friends.
Today, The Pokémon Company International unveiled the next expansion for the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game, Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance, which will launch at participating retailers around the world starting from May 27, 2022.
Inspired by the Pokémon Legends: Arceus video game, Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance will feature various Hisuian Pokémon and card art that showcases the Hisui region. The expansion will also introduce Radiant Pokémon, a new gameplay mechanic that features Shiny Pokémon illustrated in etched artwork. Radiant Pokémon tend to have a powerful Ability or attack with the potential to impact the Pokémon TCG metagame. Players will only be able to include one Radiant Pokémon in their deck.
In addition, Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance will continue to highlight Pokémon VSTAR and includes a special Trainer Gallery subset of 30 cards with artwork featuring fan-favorite Trainers and Pokémon.
The Pokémon Company International has unveiledPokémon TCG Live, a new app that allows Trainers to enjoy the Pokémon Trading Card Game in an updated digital format. Releasing as a free-to-play game, Pokémon TCG Live also marks the first time that the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be playable on smartphones, in addition to tablets, PCs, and Macs.
The announcement comes as The Pokémon Company International continues its yearlong celebration of the brand’s 25th anniversary by engaging fans with innovative Pokémon experiences and products.
Pokémon TCG Live is designed to be easy for beginners to learn how to play the game, while offering fresh challenges for existing players to improve and test their skills. Players will be able to enjoy some of their favorite Pokémon Trading Card Game activities, including building decks and battling other Trainers around the world. They will also be able to tailor their experience with customizable avatars and Pokémon Trading Card Game accessories, participate in daily quests, and more. In addition, Pokémon TCG Live will continue to be updated with new content and features following launch.
Pokémon TCG Live will be coming soon to supported iOS and Android devices, as well as PCs and Macs via Pokemon.com. Trainers looking to preview the game prior to broad availability will be able to participate in the mobile soft launch in Canada and the global open beta for PCs and Macs later this year.
Inspired by The Crown Tundra expansion for the Pokémon Swordand Pokémon Shieldvideo games, Sword & Shield—Chilling Reignintroduces over 70 new Battle Styles cards for Trainers to improve their Single Strike or Rapid Strike deck.
Calyrex will make its Pokémon TCG debut as a Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX in both Ice Rider and Shadow Rider forms, allowing players to bolster their decks, or create new ones, centered around this powerful Pokémon that will deliver exciting gameplay strategies. In addition, Trainers can look forward to playing with many new Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX, including cards featuring Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres.

Trainers interested in playing with the expansion before it launches can do so by grabbing the Sword & Shield—Chilling Reign Build & Battle Box, available through their local participating Pokémon TCG retailer starting June 5. Each box contains four Sword & Shield—Chilling Reign booster packs; a 23-card Evolution pack featuring key cards from current and prior sets, including one of four alternate-art promo cards; and a deck-building tip sheet.
The winners of the 2021 Toy of the Year have been revealed by The Toy Association. The virtual event is the 21st year for the awards. Awards were handed out in 16 categories, including “Game of the Year.” Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy won the category beating the competition in battle.

In a surprise announcement, two winners were chosen for the “People’s Choice” Award – both Story Time Chess (Story Time Chess), a classic game reimagined for the youngest of players, and The Original Spawn Action Figure and Comic Remastered (2020) (McFarlane Toys), which had its roots on Kickstarter, took home the honor.
ThePokémon Company International has announced Top Deck Academy. The Academy is a new weekly video series on the Pokémon Twitch and YouTube channels that will help Trainers of all experience levels learn more about playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Featuring Pokémon TCG experts who have been playing and commenting on matches for years, the series will help Trainers improve their game by providing tips and tricks on deck-building, winning strategies, and more.
Top Deck Academy will premiere on January 28 around 2 p.m. PST, with new episodes streaming every Thursday.
The Pokémon Company International has announced the new Battle Styles gameplay mechanic for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Inspired by thePokémon Sword and Pokémon Shieldvideo games, Battle Styles consist of Single Strike Style, which delivers powerful, hard-hitting attacks that can Knock Out an opponent in a single blow, and Rapid Strike Style, which uses sneaky, technical attacks that allow a player to attack their opponent when least expected.
Any Pokémon in the Pokémon TCG can have a Battle Style, with Single Strike cards decorated with a hint of red and Rapid Strike cards with a hint of blue. In addition, Single Strike and Rapid Strike cards are available as Trainer and Energy cards, which tend to assist Pokémon of that particular Battle Style and allow players to build a Single Strike or Rapid Strike deck.
Trainers will be able to collect, trade, and play with Battle Style cards—such as Single Strike Urshifu V, Rapid Strike Urshifu V, Single Strike Tyranitar V, and Rapid Strike Empoleon V—in the new Sword & Shield—Battle Styles expansion from The Pokémon Company International. In addition, Trainers can look forward to seeing Single Strike Urshifu VMAX and Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX in their Gigantamax forms, as seen in The Isle of Armor expansion for the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield video games.

The Pokémon Company International teased its upcoming 25th anniversary celebration for the Pokémon brand during the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. A troupe of Pikachu danced to the original and iconic Pokémon theme song in New York’s Herald Square. The electrifying performance ended with Pokémon Trainers unfurling a massive banner revealing the official logo for the celebration. This year also marked the 20th consecutive year in which a giant Pikachu balloon floated among Manhattan skyscrapers and delighted fans during the Parade.
