Warlord Games Announces Epic Battles: American Civil War

Warlord Games is wrapping up the year with the announcement of a brand new game in a brand new scale, Epic Battles: American Civil War. The American Civil War is one of the most studied military conflicts in history. With over 237 named battles with so many more minor actions and skirmishes, it features so much history and “what ifs” to recreate. Now, you can do exactly that with the Epic Battles system based on Black Power.

You can get started with Epic Battles: American Civil War with the “Starter Set“. It features both a Union army and a Confederate army each with 12 regiments (each of 100 men), 12 cannons, and 12 mounted commanders. That’s 2,400 infantry in a single box! The miniatures are in plastic sprues and easy to assemble with color coding. The box also includes rules, dice, and MDF scenery for the tabletop.

The box is available for pre-order now for $120.

Epic Battles: American Civil War Starter Set

You can expand your Union and Confederate forces with additional Brigades. Each Brigade box features three regiments. That’s three hundred men. Also featured are three cannons and three mounted commanders.

Pre-order the Union Brigade or the Confederate Brigade. They retail for $32 each.

And since it’s a tabletop miniature game, you need scenery packs! Warlord Games has you covered with two to get you started. You can get the “American Civil War scenery pack” which features three buildings. The “Gettysburg scenery pack” features the Seminary Building and Cemetery Gatehouse that were landmarks of the important battle. Each scenery pack retails for $48.

Warlord Games is also making it easy with a pre-order bundle. You get 30 regiments of troops, 30 cannons, and 30 mounted commanders. There’s also plenty of scenery. Also included is the Glory Hallelujah Black Power supplement which describes the history, armies, key leaders, doctrine, and tactics of the American Civil War, and includes a comprehensive set of army lists and optional rules for recreating the battles of that war in miniature.

Also, if you pre-order the bundle before December 27, the book will be signed by the author, Dr. David B. James.

Normally retailing for $280, the bundle is on sale for $252.

Finally, there’s two pre-order exclusive miniatures. Exclusive to pre-orders of the above starter bundle and the starter set, you’ll also have the opportunity to snag some exclusive Epic Battles miniatures – Confederate General Robert E. Lee and Union General George Meade, who led their troops to battle in the Battle of Gettysburg – perfect to go with that scenery pack!

Warlord Games’ Victory at Sea Gets New Pre-Orders Including the USS Yorktown, Akagi, and More

Bolster your Pacific fleets with new Carriers for both the US Navy Fleet and Imperial Japanese Navy in your Victory at Sea games. Both the USS Yorktown and Akagi played key roles in their flees prior to the battle of Midway.

USS Yorktown

USS Yorktown was commissioned in 1937, and named for the battle of 1781. After Pearl Harbor, USS Yorktown transferred to the Pacific and took part in some of the first American offences of the war around the Gilbert and Marshall Islands. Despite damage sustained at the Battle of the Coral Sea, she played a key role in the Battle of Midway, with her aircraft being instrumental into the sinking of two Japanese Carriers.

She was, however, damaged in turn by Japanese aircraft, and any hopes of recovering the ship was dashed by a Japanese submarine, whose torpedoes struck the limping vessel shortly after the battle.

Pre-order – $30

USS Yorktown

Originally laid down as an Amagi-class battlecruiser, the stipulations of the Washington Treaty resulted in her conversion to an aircraft carrier. As a result, Akagi (赤城, “Red Castle”) was one of Japan’s first large aircraft carriers.

At the Battle of Midway, her aircraft bombarded the American held-atoll but she was subjected to the attacks of dive-bombers bound from USS Enterprise. The loss of four Japanese carriers at this engagement, including Akagi, was a key defeat for Japan, decisively shifting the balance of power in the Pacific theatre.

Pre-order – $30

There’s also new individual vessels. Previously only available as part of their respective Navy Fleet starter boxes, you can now pre-order these individual vessels as well as Destroyers in packs of three.

Regia Marina Starter Fleet

You can also pre-order the starter fleet alongside the forthcoming Victory at Sea rulebook. The rulebook is the ultimate resource for the game and contains exhaustive fleets lists for all the belligerent navies in World War II including the Regia Marina. It also contains a wealth of scenarios across all WW2 theatres, including the Mediterranean – perfect for combining with the contents of the Regia Marina starter fleet box to refight historic battles on the tabletop.

You can pre-order the bundle for $173.

The Littorio class was the first new Italian battleship class for nearly a decade when design work began in 1930. As well as being good-looking ships, the Littorio-class included a number of new features including high-velocity guns. They were probably the first of the ‘fast battleships’ that would come to dominate capital ship design in the late 1930s and onward.

Vittorio Veneto saw extensive service in World War II, participating in the Battles of Cape Spartivento in November 1940 and Cape Matapan in March 1941.

The Vittorio Veneto retails for $24.95.

Add even more tactical flexibility to your new Regia Marina fleet with the addition of submersibles and MTB sections.

The Marcello-class of submarine should be considered one of the most successful produced by the Italian shipyards and showed very good qualities – being fast, structurally robust and relatively maneuverable.

MAS boats were extremely active in the Mediterranean theatre, whilst it was an MS boat that claimed the largest kill of any MTB in the war – that of HMS Manchester in 1942.

The Regia Marina Submarines & MTB sections retails for $40.

Regia Marina Submarines & MTB

Earn your admiralty with the All-in pre-order bundle for the Regia Marina, containing one of each of all the initial releases for the fleet, as well as saving your approximately 10% against purchasing separately.

You’ll receive a wealth of vessels of different classes including a carrier, battleships, cruisers, subs, MTB sections, destroyers and aircraft flights, well suited for experimenting with fleet composition and encouraging you to test your tactical acumen on the high seas in a number of different ways.

The all-on pre-order bundle retails for $173.

Black Powder also has a new pre-order available with the Black Powder – Napoleonic Spanish Mounted Infantry Officers.

The Spanish army of the Napoleonic wars was probably the worst to take the field in any European theatre of war. However, it is a fascinating army to field on the battlefields of Black Powder, especially from a hobby persepctive. Spanish soldiers were uniformed in the most colourful and widely differing uniform selections known in the Napoleonic period.

This pack will furnish you with three mounted infantry officers to lead your brigades on Black Powder battlefields.

The unit retails for $16.
