Warlord Games Gets the 2000AD Miniatures License
Warlord Games has announced they’ll be producing a new line of miniatures and games based on the British comic series 2000 AD.
The deal covers miniature games, scenery, and collectible miniatures sets. It also covers over 40 years of characters, so expect Judge Dredd to return to the miniature tabletop.
Warlord Games is known for their miniature games which spans historical to futuristic sci-fi. Some of their most well-known games include Bolt Action, a 28mm World War II miniature game, Konflikt ’47, a World War II alternate take with crazy technology, and Terminator Genisys, based on the popular series.
This isn’t the first time the world of 2000 AD and Judge Dredd specifically have come to gaming. A game was released based on the world in 1982 by Games Workshop, best known for Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. In 2002 Mongoose Publishing acquired the rights and released role-playing games using the d20 rules system. In 2009 they released a new version using their Traveller rules set. In 2011 a miniature game was released by the same company. Games Workshop had previously released miniatures.
