With the reveal of the Warhammer 40,000 10th edition box set details, Games Workshop also revealed the initial timeline of releases for Warhammer 40,000. With each codex release, it was mentioned that each would also see new miniature releases as well.
June sees the release of the main box set followed by the core book, Crusade: Tyrannic War, Chapter Approved Mission Deck, and Index Cards in Summer 2023.
With the box set release will also be updated rules for every faction for free to download but codexes will follow.
First up in Autumn 2023 are Codex: Tyranids and Codex: Space Marines.
In Winter 2023 we’ll see Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus and Codex: Necrons.
Spring 2024 will be the release of Codex: Dark Angels, Codex: Orks, Codex: Adeptus Custodes, Codex: T’au Empire, and Codex: Chaos Space Marines. This is the first indication we’ll be getting codex releases for Space Marine subfactions.

The return of Lion El’Jonson is one of the big stories of the year so far and you’ll be able to get The Lion & Retinue. The Lion has risen from his 10,000-year slumber, and he’s wasting no time putting traitors to the sword. You get Lion El’Jonson and three elite Bladeguard Veterans, as well as a packed Dark Angels transfer sheet, and two beautiful prints depicting key art from Arks of Omen: The Lion.
Arks of Omen: The Lion is the final chapter of the event storyline. Vashtorr the Arkifane assembles his Key-fragments and begins a ritual of cataclysmic proportions. The Dark Angels are hot on his heels, hungry for vengeance for the assault on the Rock, but even they can’t predict what they’ll find when information extracted from a traitor leads to the far reaches of the galaxy. The book contains expanded rules for Boarding Actions. On top of extra faction rules for the Leagues of Votann, Thousand Sons, Imperial Agents, and Adeptus Custodes, there’s a suite of diverse Dread Encounter missions to add scenarios that tear the battlefield itself apart and suck walls and doorways into the warp, while 12 Breaching Operation missions let you smash straight through solid walls and leave diabolical traps for your foes.
You’ll be able to get Supreme Grand Master Azrael fresh from his battle with Vashtorr. The figure will now be available on his own to stand next to The Lion.
Commander Dante gets an upgrade and ready to join in the battles that rage.
Vashtorr the Arkifane is now available on its own and ready to join your Chaos forces.
Show off your loyalty with the Arks of Omen: Sanguinary Guard Dice Set. It features 15 metallic gold dice featuring royal red pips and the icon of their Chapter on the 6 face.
Expand or start your Votann army with the Boarding Patrol: Leagues of Votann. It features an Einhyr Champion who leads 5 Einhyr Hearthguard, 5 Cthonian Beserks, and 10 Hearthkyn Warriors.

Beastmasters, Clawed Fiends, Grotesques, Mandrakes, Razorwing Flocks, Khymerae, Lhameans, Medusae, Sslyth, Ur-Ghuls, and even the Master Haemonculus Urien Rakarth himself will all be available to order.
For Warhammer: The Horus Heresy comes the Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer. It’s an armored beast, mounting a triple-barrelled neutron laser battery onto a rugged Spartan hull to create a devastatingly focused anti-tank weapon.
The Sicaran Venator Tank Hunter is a more discrete anti-tank option. It trades mass for speed and can wind its way around enemy flanks before lancing neutron beam laser blasts right through the sides of opposing tanks.
For Blood Bowl comes Cindy Piewhistle & Puggy Baconbreath. Cindy weaponizes her delicious wares while Puggy is an elite athlete with skill and discipline. The two-pack will be out from Forge World and can be used in Halfling Thimble Cup or Old World Classic teams.
From Black Library comes The Lion: Son of the Forest. Witness the dramatic return of Lion El’Jonson to the galaxy in The Lion: Son of the Forest by Mike Brooks. The Primarch of the Dark Angels has spent 10 millennia sequestered within the Rock, and the time is nigh for him to rise. You can get it in paperback, eBook, and audiobook, as well get a limited edition version. The Limited Edtion copy features a dark green cloth cover with red, cream, and gold details, and a crimson ribbon page marker. Only 2,000 individually numbered copies will be available, and they’re all signed by the author.
Legends of the Dark Angels by Gav Thorpe and C Z Dunn is a compilation of four full-length novels, one novella, and three short stories. These tales follow heroes like Supreme Grand Master Azrael, Chief Librarian Ezekiel, and more.
Angels of Darkness by Gav Thorpe gets a German Edition. Interrogator-Chaplain Boreas stands vigil over the critical recruiting world of Piscina V, ensuring the next generation of Dark Angels are protected from the horrors of the galaxy. When the existence of the Fallen comes to light, tragedy will strike.
Warboss by Mike Brooks gets a German Edition as well. Six clans vie for leadership over a suddenly leaderless warband. White Dwarf 487 continues the story of the space hulk Herald of Misery, adding new rules for deadly laser grids to Boarding Actions games and two short stories concerning the forces fighting within. Meanwhile, a Tale of Four Warlords takes on its second challenge of the year, while Part Five of The Great Stomp introduces campaign rules for Warhammer Age of Sigmar games set in the Living Peaks.
Revealed at Adepticon 2023, a new Primarch is returning to the world of Warhammer 40K. The Lion is returning to lead the Dark Angels in the next Arks of Omen book, Arks of Omen: The Lion.
Lion El’Jonson, Primarch of the Dark Angels has returned in the final moments of Arks of Omen. He wields the radiant sword Fealty and the Emperor’s Shield. The figure features lots of detail including your choice of multiple heads.
He’ll debut with Arks of Omen: The Lion, the final chapter of the event, where he’ll face Angron! It’s a battle 10,000 years in the making.
It’s a big week for Games Workshop‘s world of Warhammer 40K in next week’s pre-orders. Arks of Omen continues as Vashtorr arrives!
Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is the third book in the Arks of Omen story. The story focuses on the siege of the Rock, as Vastorr searches for a powerful component in his diabolical goal. The Dark Angels aren’t taking this invasion lightly, and rally their forces as a mysterious third party enters the slaughter.
This is a big part of the narrative, not only featuring a book but a boxed set to go with it.
The book features The Rock Besieged, a Boarding Actions campaign with eight new narrative missions telling the story of the raid. There are also additional Boarding Action rules for Chaos Daemons, Necrons, Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, the Death Guard, and the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is also available in regular and Collector’s Edition which features a cover embossed with silver foil, printed page edges, and a black ribbon page marker.
You can play out Vashtorr’s invasion with the Wrath of the Soul Forge King box set. This is the first place you can get Vashtorr the Arkifane and Supreme Grand Master Azrael.

Boarding Patrol: Adeptus Mechanicus comprises a Tech-Priest Dominus and 10 Skitarii Vanguard, who can also be built as Rangers. You’ll also find a cadre of five Sicarian Infiltrators – who can also be built as Ruststalkers – and a trio of heavily armed Kataphron Destroyers – which can also be built as Breachers.
Boarding Patrol: Chaos Daemons is a Khorne-flavoured Boarding Patrol with 10 Flesh Hounds and 10 Bloodletters led by Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance.
Boarding Patrol: Death Guard is led by a putrid Lord of Virulence, with three Deathshroud Terminators, and 10 Plague Marines.
Boarding Patrol: Genestealer Cults is made up of a Kelemorph, an Abominant, five Aberrants, and 10 Acolyte Hybrids – who can also be built as Hybrid Metamorphs.
You can represent your force a bit easier with the Imperial Knights Dice Set and Chaos Knights Dice Sets. Both feature 15 dice with a helmed icon on the 6 face, and Imperial Knights get a two-tone blue dice with silvery pips, while the Chaos Knights get a two-tone red dice with golden pips.
The Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game is getting a few releases.
Faramir, Madril and Damrod, Rangers of Ithilien were first found in The Lord of the Rings Battle of Osgiliath boxed set. These versatile and mighty heroes are now available together in their own box, each with a choice of ruins or wooded scenery for their base.

Vashtorr the Arkifane has arrived and he’s launched an attack on the Rock. Wrath of the Soul Forge King is a new box set that’ll tell the story of Vashtorr’s assault. It’s the first chance to get that characters as well as the new Azrael figure!
On the side of Chaos is Vashtorr, 10 Cultists, two Obliterators, and a Venomcrawler. Azrael is joined by five Deathwing Terminators and 10 Space Marine Intercessors, plus two Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade sprues.
The narrative of this box ties into the third book in the Arks of Omen series, Arks of Omen: Vashtorr.
The Keeper of the Truth, Azrael, Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels is getting a brand new miniature. Having crossed the Rubicon Primaris, Azrael is taking up the Sword of Secrets and his master-crafted combi plasma, The Lion’s Wrath, he’s ready to take on Abaddon and Vashtorr’s plan.
The new model is accompanied by a Watcher in the Dark. It can carry either his sword’s scabbard or the Lion Helm into battle for him.
The original miniature is really old and this new model is a hell of an update to a classic model.
McFarlane Toys has been doing their own mini Toy Fair showing off what’s coming from the toy manufacturer. They’re revealed two new releases that are coming to their line of Warhammer 40,000 figures. Coming soon are a Dark Angels Space Marine and Chaos Space Marine.
While the Chaos Space Marine looks pretty good, the Dark Angels figure might be the first fail of the figure line. While wings are a regular motif for the chapter, this implementation feels a little… off. It does come with a plasma pistol which is new.
Next Sunday, the sons of the Lion make their Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition debut. With the new Dark Angels companion to Codex: Space Marines, they’ll once again be able to take up their search for the Fallen once more.
The new Codex Supplement: Dark Angels will be available for pre-order next weekend. It features datasheets, Warlord Traits, Relics, psychic discipline, as well as Crusade campaign rules.

But what about expanding your force? The Combat Patrol: Dark Angels has you covered. It features a Primaris Chaplain, Redemptor Dreadnought, Inceptors, and Intercessors. The force has a Power Level of around 25 and a solid way to get a start.
There’s also new reinforcements for Space Marine forces in general!
The Storm Speeder is coming and can be assembled into three variants. You can build the anti-infantry Hailstrike, the armour-melting Hammerstrike, and the warhead-launching Thunderstrike.
A multipart kit of Bladeguard Veterans delivers three elite Space Marines, each with master-crafted power swords, storm shields, and heavy bolt pistols.
If you need some tank-busting power, the Primaris Eradicators are coming as well. Featuring reinforced Mark X Gravis armor, they can be equipped with a deadly melta rifle or heavy melta rifle as standard. There’s also a single multi-melta as an optional upgrade.
The Necrons also get some reinforcement with the Psychomancer. They use their knowledge to overload their opponent with a mental onslaught.
A new warband comes to Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm. Khagra’s Ravagers have the ability to desecrate objectives forcing opponents to face the warband in combat to win.
Black Library has a bunch of new releases.

Games Workshop has revealed the next three codexes we can expect for Warhammer 40K. The company is wrapping up the year with two and then a third to launch 2018 has also had the veil lifted. This gets them to the 10 that were promised to release in 2017 when the company released the latest version of their game.
Space Marine fans will be happy with two new additions, Codex: Blood Angels and Codex: Dark Angels! You’ll find Stratagems, Warlord Traits and updated lore, as well rules for including the arsenal of the Primaris Marines in your Blood Angels and Dark Angels armies.
Servants of Chaos have something to look forward to as well. 2018 kicks off with a new codex for Chaos Daemons.
