IDW Games’ Wayward Board Game Gets a Signature Edition. Demo the Game at PAX Unplugged

IDW Games has announced the Wayward Board Game – Signature Edition, based on the comic series world by Jim Zub and Steven Cummings, with new art by Cummings and game design by Jonathan GilmourWayward presents players with a highly thematic threat management game and multiple unique and challenging scenarios that push them to take risks, and, in return, grant their characters more powerful abilities and items.

Wayward is a cooperative board game for 1-5 players where each player takes on the role of a teenager with newfound supernatural abilities. The next generation of the supernatural has emerged in Tokyo, and these teens are fighting for their survival and to prevent the Weave – the hidden threads of power and destiny that guide our world – from unraveling. These “wayward children” threaten the old order and the creatures and spirits known as the Yokai are determined to eradicate them before they are usurped. Players choose one of five different scenarios to play, each with its own unique rules and challenges, to defeat the Yokai and destroy their places of power.

Wayward Board Game – Signature Edition will be available on Kickstarter for pre-order in February 2019 for $70.00 and will include exclusive upgraded packaging, miniatures sculpted by Ninja Division, and bonus character with scenario.

Prior to the campaign, fans attending PAX Unplugged (Nov. 30 – Dec. 2) will have the opportunity to demo the game at IDW Games booth #3148.

PAX Unplugged: Rambo: the Board Game Comes to Kickstarter January 2018

At PAX Unplugged, Everything Epic announced the launch of the upcoming Kickstarter for Rambo: The Board Game will be in January 2018! In partnership with Creative Licensing and Studiocanal, Rambo: The Board Game is locked, loaded, and getting ready for crowdfunding.

Rambo: The Board Game has been in development since May 2017 and is currently in beta testing getting ready for crowdfunding. The game is being designed by an Epic team including Chris Batarlis (Big Trouble in Little China the Game & Secrets of the Lost Tomb) and Samuel Bailey (Star Wars Imperial Assault, Forbidden Stars, Talisman,  & Elder Sign). The designers have been huge fans of the film series since the 80’s and are passionately making a game that will do this fan favorite justice. It’s not just a “pasted on theme with movie stills”: It’s a highly thematic, cooperative, and tactical miniatures mission-based campaign game that allows 1-4 players to experience the events they remember from the films as well as embark on new, never before seen, missions .

The game provides sealed “legacy-like” Operation Envelopes which gradually expand the game as each mission completes. Each mission tells a story and takes the players on a unique adventure to various locations to save POW’s, escape a military prison, raid a jungle encampment, defend a secret air base, or survive a treacherous jungle and much more! Missions unlock new gear and tactics cards to help players customize their experience and allow for high replayability and great tactical strategy. Taking actions and engaging in combat is done with a card-based system, the player is in control, and every choice may be life or death.

Players choose from an iconic variety of special forces characters, each with highly detailed miniatures, including, of course, John Rambo, Col. Trautman, members of Baker Team, and other companions that Rambo teamed up with over the years. Each hero has unique abilities and customization options that make them valuable during missions.

You control how to approach the mission: Do you go in guns blazing? Or do you take a more stealthy approach? Perhaps you set a trap for the enemy? It’s up to you to decide and lead Rambo and his team to victory!

The Pre-orders on Kickstarter will be available in January 2018 with very special stretch goals and backer exclusives (Like Chopper and Tank Minis and Unique Expansion Packs!), so I’ll be in touch again to let you know the details so you can share it with your readers. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know if you have any questions. We’ll be adding new art to our Facebook page regularly, but if you might be interested in a debut opportunity through your site sometime in the future, just let me know as we would love to work with you to help get the word out about the game.

Paizo Brings Starfinder, Pathfinder and More to Inaugural PAX Unplugged

Paizo Inc., publisher of the award-winning Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and acclaimed Starfinder Roleplaying Game, has announced the line-up of activities planned for new Pathfinders and Starfinders alike at the new convention dedicated to tabletop gaming.

As a PAX Unplugged sponsor, Paizo staff members, along with members of the Organized Play Foundation, will bring a variety of activities to convention. Attendees may participate in one-hour game demos of the Pathfinder RPG, the Starfinder RPG or the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game at the Paizo booth in the Exhibition Hall, or longer games in the RPG Hall for veteran roleplaying gamers.

On Saturday at 3:00 pm, players may participate in Pathfinder Society scenario 8-99A: The Solstice Scar, a multi-table interactive special where agents of the Society aid an army of tribal warriors in repelling an ancient evil force from beyond. Drop-ins are welcome but pre-registration will guarantee a spot. Besides this special event, scenario offerings include all of Starfinder Society’s Year of the Scoured Stars, all of Pathfinder Society’s Year of Factions’ Favor, as well as a selection of scenarios from last season’s Year of the Stolen Storm. Organized play sessions are four hours long, starting at 10 am all three days. There are three sessions each Friday and Saturday and two sessions on Sunday.

Paizo organized play programs come in two varieties, one that utilize the flagship Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and another based on the commended Starfinder Roleplaying Game. Agents of the Pathfinder Society, besides being dedicated to the Society goals, developed contacts and affiliations with a variety of factions. In its ninth season, the Year of Factions’ Favor, characters join the Society as agents and utilize those contacts and resources to achieve a variety of objectives. Starfinder Society takes place in a far future of the Pathfinder universe, wherein Golarion has been lost and no one remembers why. In the inaugural season, players work to rebuild a fractured Society while learning the truth about the Scoured Stars Incident that tore it apart.

On-site registration starts at 10:00am on Friday, November 17 at PAX RPG HQ.

The Creativity Hub Brings Two New Games to PAX Unplugged

The Creativity Hub have two new games that will be having their US debut at this week’s PAX Unplugged show in Philadelphia. You may have heard of some of the things they’ve done before – they’re probably most famous for Rory’s Story Cubes – but they’re now moving into the world of making board and card games.

First up is Untold: Adventures Await – the episodic storytelling game that puts you and your fellow players in the shoes of heroes in a TV show of your own creation. From building your setting through to the final epic showdown, the whole game plays out in one hour, and the easily accessible rules mean that a wide range of players can get involved! From fantasy to sci-fi, crime drama to thrilling horror, you can use the included Story Cubes or mix and match sets of your choice to push the story in whatever direction you wish. One-off pilots or whole seasons of adventure are ready for you in Untold: Adventures Await.

The second release is Blank – a quick playing, easy to understand card game that will change and evolve as you play. Every round, players will get rid of the cards in their hands by matching colours and numbers. Three randomly dealt Rule Cards add a twist to each round that must be followed, as failure to do so means you’ll have to draw extra cards as a penalty. Get rid of all your cards and you win – so far, so simple! What makes Blank different is what follows: the winner gets to either create a new Rule Card or modify a Game Card, introducing new ideas into the game and making each copy of Blank totally unique. Make it a trivia game, make it a strategy game, make it a family game… but above everything, make it YOUR game!

The Creativity Hub will be at Booth #452 for PAX Unplugged.
